With laugh-out-loud moments, heartfelt truths, and a colorful cast of characters (including a frog, a tomato, a sarcastic potato, a squirrel, and some surprisingly self-aware weeds), this series explores what it takes to truly grow in faith.
Each skit builds on the last, guiding kids through:
- Why God plants seeds in our hearts
- How distractions can snatch our faith
- Why good soil and deep roots matter
- How to identify the “weeds” in our spiritual lives
- And how growth really happens when we grow together
Perfect for VBS, children’s church, or a 5-day drama rotation, the Sower and the Seeds Series is both fun and biblically rich—reminding kids (and adults!) that God is the true Master Gardener, and He’s not done with any of us yet.

Sower and the Seed Series - Day 1
Lights up on a garden-themed news desk. Daisy Bloom is at center, bright and enthusiastic. Rocky Root sits at a potting bench reading a gardening manual.)
Daisy: Good morning, my little leaflings! Welcome back to GNN, the Garden News Network! I'm your host, Daisy Bloom, and it is a blooming good day to dig into another root-level mystery: Why does God plant seeds?
Rocky: (adjusting reading glasses) Been wondering that myself. Back in my sprouting days, we didn’t ask questions, we just grew. But now… I wonder.
Daisy: And that’s why we’re here, Rocky! To uncover the dirt—I mean the truth—about the seeds God plants in us.
(Enter Benny the Bee, zipping across stage, doing loop-de-loops.)
Benny: Did somebody say seeds?! I LOVE seeds! I mean, pollen is my jam, but seeds are a close second. What's the buzz today?
Daisy: Benny, we’re investigating why God plants seeds in people’s hearts.
Benny: Ohhhh! Like love seeds? Joy buds? Faith sprouts?
Rocky: Exactly, young flyer. But not everyone knows that those seeds need good soil to grow.
(Enter Fern the Frog, shyly hopping on stage with a basket of sunflower seeds.)
Fern: Um, hi. I heard someone mention God’s love and I, um, brought snacks... (holds up the basket)
Daisy: Just in time, Fern! Today we're showing that just like seeds need sunlight, water, and good soil, God’s love needs to be nurtured in our lives.
Sower and the Seed Series - Day 2
(Lights up on a field. Fern is gently spreading seeds across the soil, humming happily. Benny buzzes nearby with a watering can.)
Fern: (smiling) These seeds are going to be so happy! Sun, soil, and a whole lotta love.
Benny: (zipping by) And a splash of H2O from yours truly! Buzz buzz!
(Enter Petunia holding a parasol and a journal.)
Petunia: What are you two up to? Planning a plant party without me?
Fern: We’re planting seeds—helping them grow deep roots so they can really thrive.
Petunia: Sounds... messy. But noble. Carry on!
(Enter Daisy Bloom with clipboard.)
Daisy: Welcome back to GNN: Garden News Network! Today we’re reporting live from the planting fields where seed growth is underway. But the question remains—will they take root?
Rocky: (entering with hoe, eyeing the ground) Depends. Is the soil ready? Is the sun shining? Are squirrels behaving? So far, I’m betting two outta three.
(Cue Nutters the Squirrel darting onstage, stuffing seeds into his cheeks.)
Nutters: Woohoo! Buffet time! Don’t mind me, just collecting these for... um... winter! Yeah, winter!
Fern: (hands on hips) Nutters! Those are for growing!
Nutters: But they’re soooo delicious! Crunchy, nutritious, and free! Want one?
Petunia: You can’t just take seeds like that—some of these might grow into my favorite flowers!
Rocky: (dryly) Or worse... more weeds.
Wanda: (popping up from behind a bush) Hey! I heard that! I am a proud, self-grown plant, thank you very much.
Rocky: (smirking) Self-grown and self-absorbed.
Wanda: Jealousy is not a good look for a tuber.
Daisy: Let’s keep it rooted in kindness, folks. The Bible says some seeds fall on the path and get snatched before they even sprout. . .
Sower and the Seed Series - Day 3
Lights up on Daisy Bloom entering with microphone and camerabean—a rolling potted plant pretending to be a camera. She’s scanning the area with excitement.)
Daisy: Good morning, viewers! Daisy Bloom here reporting live from the heart of the garden where something truly groundbreaking—or should I say rock-breaking—is happening. Rumors are spreading like fertilizer that someone is trying to grow... rocks. That’s right. Rocks. Let’s investigate.
(She tiptoes toward a small patch where Carl the Cactus stands proudly among carefully arranged stones. He’s watering them with great care.)
Carl: Grow, my stony children, grow! I believe in you!
Daisy: (into mic) And here he is—Carl the Cactus, the optimistic horticulturalist with one of the strangest planting strategies we’ve ever seen. Carl, can you explain what’s happening here?
Carl: (beaming) Absolutely! I've created the perfect environment for a bumper crop of boulders. Water. Sun. Positive reinforcement. We're making history!
Daisy: Viewers, you heard it here first. Stay tuned as we dig deeper—pun very much intended.
(Enter Petunia, looking skeptical and fabulous.)
Petunia: Um... Carl, sweetie, hate to crack your pot—but those are rocks. You can water them all day and nothing’s gonna sprout except disappointment.
Carl: That’s where you’re wrong, Petunia. I read somewhere that even hard things can grow under the right conditions.
Petunia: Yes, like character. Not gravel.
(Enter Rocky Root, arms crossed, unimpressed.)
Rocky: I heard we were planting stones now. Should I be worried someone’s going to try to fry me up next?
Sower and the Seed Series - Day 4
(Lights up on Petunia hoeing a garden row marked “Tomato Row.” She’s covered in dirt and clearly frustrated.)
Petunia: (wiping brow) Growing tomatoes was supposed to be simple. Delicious. Instagrammable! But these weeds are ruining my vibe—and possibly my crop.
(She chops at a stubborn weed with her hoe. It laughs and ducks.)
Wanda: Oh come now, Petunia. Weeds add character! Besides, your tomatoes seem embarrassed enough already.
Petunia: What?
Wanda: (mock whisper) Why do you think the tomato’s always blushing?
Tammy the Tomato: (popping up nervously from behind a vine) Um... well, it’s mostly because everyone keeps staring. And asking if I’m blushing. Or sunburned. Or hiding ketchup secrets.
Petunia: Oh Tammy! You’re doing great—don’t let Wanda get to you.
Tammy: I’m trying, but it’s a lot of pressure. Everyone wants me ripe and radiant. I’m just trying to hold it together on the vine.
(Enter Daisy Bloom with her trusty mic.)
Daisy: Hello again, garden fans! Daisy Bloom with GNN, the Garden News Network, reporting live from Tomato Row, where one determined gardener is battling a full-blown weed invasion... and one tomato is battling social anxiety.
(Enter Rocky Root, looking unimpressed, leaning on his rake.)
Rocky: Tomatoes blushing, huh? Must be sunburn or shame. Or both. Told her: mulch early, weed often, and quit singing lullabies to her produce.
Petunia: Those lullabies were therapeutic!
(Enter Benny the Bee, zipping across with a tiny watering can.)
Benny: I brought hydration! Tomatoes love water. Also... I may have spritzed Wanda again. Oopsies!
Wanda: (flicking water off leaves) I’m going to start charging for emotional damage.
