Final Broadcast: Is the End Near?
Part 5 of 5
Tension fills the newsroom as strange reports roll in:
Unexplainable events in the skies.
Mysterious disappearances.
A growing buzz among Jesus’ followers that He’s coming back.
The JNN news team scrambles to cover the chaos—and the hope—circulating across Jerusalem and beyond. Is this the fulfillment of the Nazarene’s final promise? Some dismiss it. Some panic. Others cling to faith. But one thing is clear: the world is watching.
In this thrilling series finale, Jesus’ promise of return comes to center stage. The newsroom dynamic is humorous and high-energy, but the message is deeply rooted in Scripture—encouraging audiences to live ready, stay faithful, and look forward with joy.
Perfect for closing a VBS week or launching discussion in youth drama groups.
When the world is watching, what story will we tell?

Elizabeth: Good evening ladies and gentlemen, welcome to JNN, the Jerusalem News Network.
I am Elizabeth, anchor here at JNN.
Before we get into the news I want to read you a directive from JNN CEO Herod Antipatros in response to news stories which have been circulating around Jerusalem the past few days, that regarding the supposed . . resurrection from the dead . . . of the so-called Nazarene prophet, Jesus ben Joseph. . .
Elizabeth picks up papers and reads intently
Elizabeth: On behalf of the Board of Directors, management and staff at Jerusalem News Network I want to announce that effective immediately there will be no more mention of the supposed return to life of one Jesus ben Joseph of Nazareth on this network.
The incident has been thoroughly and exhaustively investigated by a team of experts who have found that the entire affair was a hoax staged by friends of Jesus ben Joseph.
The guard who was posted at the tomb has admitted to accepting a bribe, allowing the group of terrorists to enter the tomb, and to remove the body.
Those responsible have not yet been found but shall be hunted down and dealt with most severely.
We at Jerusalem News Network will continue to provide you, our listeners, with accurate and authoritative news coverage, unlike other less reputable news outlets.
Our final word on this matter: The so-called Nazarene Prophet was crucified as a common criminal, on that cross he was killed, and dead he remains, never to live again.
We now return you to JNN’s regularly scheduled evening news broadcast.
Elizabeth folds her papers, sets them down on the table, looks into camera
Elizabeth: We have several news stories we are following, and we will get back to those stories after this message from our sponsors, Temple Kosher Foods.
OV: Roll Temple commercial
Wolf: What kind of statement was that from Herod?
Elizabeth: The official statement, that’s what it was. . . And each of us will follow it to the letter if we intend to hold our jobs, if you get my drift.
Wolf: But it is a pack of lies! . . Each and every one of us know full well that the Nazarene rose from the tomb and he is alive!
Elizabeth, furious: The so-called Nazarene Prophet was crucified as a common criminal, on that cross he was killed, and dead he remains, never to live again. . . End of story! . . Now repeat it after me . . .
Simon: You know better than that Elizabeth, you saw him with your own eyes, alive!
Elizabeth, firmly: I saw no such thing. And I was with you Simon, so since we spent every moment together, since I saw nothing . . you also saw nothing, do you understand? That is the official line, that is the final comment, and, if asked, that will be the answer from each and every one of you as well.
Andrew: How can you lie like that Elizabeth? . . . You know full well that is a lie.
Elizabeth, seething: Andrew ben Eli. . . . You ask how I can lie like this? . . Let me tell you how I can lie like this! . . . I lie like this because King Herod demanded that I lie, and lie I will gladly do.
Wolf: Elizabeth, you know that Jesus has appeared to his followers over the past 40 days. You are aware that Jesus has appeared to hundreds of reliable witnesses. But even more, you, Elizabeth, you were in the room right here in Jerusalem when Jesus appeared to his followers. And I stood right beside you.
Elizabeth: You will never . . never . . ever . . mention that happening again.
Wolf: But it is the truth!
Elizabeth: What is truth? . . Truth is saying what we are told to say by those in positions of power over us.
Simon: You were moved by the sight of Jesus, for a time I think you even became a believer.
Elizabeth: For a time I became a fool! . . And I regained my senses after a short talk with King Herod.
