Our Story
A New Act Begins at DramaShare!
I'm Rick Murray, the new owner of DramaShare Ministries. I have stepped into a role I never imagined but am deeply honored to fill. Before we go further, let’s give a heartfelt standing ovation to John and Judy Alexander, the incredible couple who founded DramaShare. 👏
Based in Canada, John and Judy dedicated themselves to this ministry. (Fun fact: it was Judy who came up with the name DramaShare—a name that has come to mean so much to so many.)
Their passion for faith-based drama equipped churches, ministries, and storytellers with powerful scripts and resources that have touched countless lives. DramaShare has never been about putting on just another play—it’s been about bringing meaningful stories to the stage. Stories that move hearts, spark laughter, and sometimes even bring a tear or two.
While DramaShare Ministries is now based in the U.S., the heart behind it hasn’t changed. I’m simply picking up the torch that John and Judy lit—continuing their mission to equip churches, homeschool groups, and everyday storytellers with faith-filled scripts that help share the Good News about Jesus through drama.
How I Got Here (Hint: It Started With a Christmas Play 🎄)

Like so many of you, I first discovered DramaShare while searching for the perfect Christmas play. I was a Sunday school teacher from Iowa, wrangling a group of enthusiastic (and slightly chaotic) kids and brave adults, hoping to put together something meaningful. I found the perfect script on Dramashare.com, and from the first rehearsal to the final stage line, I knew—I was hooked.
From there, my journey took an unexpected twist. With years of web development experience, I found myself teaming up with John, fighting website glitches, navigating tech hiccups, and sharing countless prayers as we kept DramaShare.com running. We almost threw in the towel more than once, but John’s vision for faith-based drama was worth fighting for.
Why Drama Just Feels Like Home 🎭
Though I'm no Hollywood actor, storytelling has always been close to my heart. Theatre is magical; stepping onto a stage transports you to a different world, whether it's ancient Jerusalem or a modern-day skit that resonates with daily life.
My first stage experience was in Houston, Texas—as an 8th grader nervously recounting stories of Old Testament heroes. Later, in high school, I stood before judges and peers at a talent competition, passionately delivering a monologue about witnessing Jesus' crucifixion. Even at Iowa State University, when given a chance to write a script, it was faith-based drama that came naturally.
Now, my three sons have also embraced theatre—participating in church productions and homeschool performances—because drama is simply fun.
The Show Must Go On!
John’s beloved wife, Judy, has passed, and in John’s words, his act is already past intermission. This is exactly why I’m here—to keep the spotlight shining on what they started. This ministry is too important to fade. If you haven’t done so, I invite you to read John’s letter to the DramaShare community.
