Our Story

A New Act Begins at DramaShare!

Hello, DramaShare family!

I'm Rick Murray, the new owner of DramaShare Ministries, stepping into a role I never saw coming but one I feel incredibly honored to play. But before we go any further, let’s take a moment to give a standing ovation to the husband and wife who started DramaShare —John and Judy Alexander. 👏

John and Judy's passion for faith-based drama has equipped churches, ministries, and storytellers with scripts and resources that have touched countless lives. DramaShare has never been about putting on just another play—it’s been about bringing faith-based stories to the stage in a way that moves hearts, sparks laughter, and sometimes even brings a tear or two.

How I Got Here (Hint: It Started With a Christmas Play 🎄)

Murray Family in first DramaShare Play

Like so many of you, I first discovered DramaShare while searching for the perfect Christmas play. I was a Sunday school teacher from Iowa, wrangling a group of enthusiastic (and slightly chaotic) kids and brave adults, hoping to put together something meaningful. I found the perfect script on Dramashare.com, and from the first rehearsal to the final bow, I knew—I was hooked.

From there, my journey took an unexpected twist. With years of web development experience, I found myself teaming up with John, fighting website glitches, navigating tech hiccups, and sharing countless prayers as we kept DramaShare.com running. We almost threw in the towel more than once, but John’s vision for faith-based drama was worth fighting for.

Why Drama Just Feels Like Home 🎭

I may not be a Hollywood actor, but let’s be real—I’ve loved this world of storytelling for a long time. Theatre is magic. You step onto a stage and suddenly, you’re transported to another time, another place—whether it’s ancient Jerusalem or a modern-day church skit about life in general.

My first time on stage? Houston, Texas. A young, slightly nervous 8th grader, standing under the bright lights at a church school, telling stories of Old Testament heroes. Fast forward to high school and I found myself at an all-day talent competition, standing before judges and peers, pouring my heart into a monologue about witnessing Jesus’ death. And yes, back in college, when given the chance to write a script at Iowa State University, what did I write? A faith-based play. It’s always been part of me.

Now, I have three boys who have all been deeply involved in theatre—from church productions to homeschool groups—because acting is just plain fun.

The Show Must Go On!

John’s dear wife, Judy, has passed, and in John’s words, his act is already past intermission. But that’s why I’m here. I want to keep the spotlight shining on what John and Judy started, not let DramaShare fade away. This ministry to those in need of Christ is too important.  Please read John's letter to his DramaShare customers.

To our long-time DramaShare family—I’m not here to replace John and Judy - ever. I’m here to continue their mission, making sure faith-based drama thrives for generations to come.

To those who are new—welcome! You’re joining a community of storytellers, visionaries, and creative souls who believe drama isn’t just entertainment; it’s a powerful way to share the Good News about our Lord and Savior.

DramaShare Ministries remains dedicated to providing the best scripts, resources, and support to help you bring God’s message to life as DramaShare did.

I can’t wait to share more with you in the coming months—about our vision, and all the exciting ways we can grow together.

So grab a script, step into the light, and let’s tell stories of faith that matter for all.

🎭 Blessings,
Rick Murray and family
