Women Reaching Out In Love – Expanded Father’s Day Edition is a thoughtful and lightly humorous church drama built around three women asked to portray three different Marys: Mary the mother of Jesus, Mary of Bethany, and Mary Magdalene.
At first, each woman assumes the “best” role must be Mary the mother of Jesus. But as they begin looking more closely at the lives of all three women, they discover something deeper: each Mary served, loved, listened, followed, and reached out to Jesus in her own meaningful way.
This expanded edition adds a gentle Father’s Day connection without turning the script away from its original message. Through references to fathers, mentors, Joseph’s quiet faithfulness, and the people who help shape our walk with God, the script becomes a meaningful worship-service piece for Father’s Day or any church gathering focused on faith, love, and spiritual influence.
Optional hymn moments and frozen tableau scenes give the presentation a worshipful feel while still keeping the simple staging and conversational style churches appreciate.

READER 1:
Throughout Scripture, God has worked through ordinary people who chose to love, serve, trust, and follow Him.
READER 2:
On this Father’s Day, we remember the fathers, grandfathers, mentors, and spiritual leaders who helped shape our lives.
READER 1:
But we also remember something else: God never intended His story to be carried by men alone.
READER 2:
From Adam and Eve . . . to Abraham and Sarah . . . to Joseph and Mary . . . God has always worked through faithful men and women together.
READER 1:
And among those who followed Jesus were women whose love, devotion, and faith helped shape the story of the Gospel itself.
READER 2:
Three women.
Three Marys.
Three very different journeys.
READER 1:
Yet each reached out in love.
Music fades.
The women unfreeze.
Original scene begins.
MONICA:
Why is it that no one ever shows up on time at these church things? . . Shellie asked me to be here like . . (checks watch) . . . ten minutes ago!
My dad used to say church events never start on time because Christians stop to talk to everybody on the way in.
(pause, think)
But it’s not like I was late . . I mean . . I was . . otherwise committed!
Teresa rushes on stage.
TERESA:
Oh, hi Monica, I was supposed to meet Shellie here. Have you seen her?
MONICA, annoyed:
No I have not seen Shellie, as a matter of fact! . . I was supposed to meet Shellie here . . and no sign of her yet . . and I have been waiting here like fifteen minutes!
TERESA, frowns:
Really? . . So was I.
MONICA:
Well, see Shellie asked me to . . .
Lois rushes on stage.
LOIS:
Oh, hi girls . . Have you seen Shellie? . . I am late for a meeting with her.
TERESA:
Seems like we all are meeting Shellie . . . and it seems like she is late!
LOIS:
Knowing Shellie, she’s probably still downstairs trying to organize those Father’s Day booklets for the men after church.
MONICA:
Or putting little ribbons on them.
TERESA:
Or taking the ribbons off because someone told her they looked too much like Christmas.
LOIS:
Either way, if Shellie is involved, there is probably a table, a Father’s Day list, and at least one roll of tape missing.
MONICA:
Well, like I was about to tell Teresa, Shellie asked me to play the part of Mary in our Ladies’ Time Out program next month.
LOIS:
Monica, I am confused . . . Shellie asked me to play the part of Mary . . .
TERESA:
Well, Lois, I can see where you are confused. The fact is, Shellie asked me to play Mary.
MONICA, makes a time-out sign:
OK, hold on here, you two! . . There are three of us here, right . . . and obviously only one of us can be playing Mary, right?
LOIS, leafing through script pages:
Oh, I get it! . . . See, there are three Marys in this play.
MONICA:
Three Marys??? . . . In one play??? . . . Like how is that gonna happen?
TERESA:
Talk about mass confusion, three Marys! I don’t think so!
LOIS:
No, see here, as well as Mary, the mother of Jesus, there is Mary of Bethany and Mary Magdalene.
MONICA, looks through script:
Oh, I get it! . . Three different Marys.
TERESA:
OK, now that makes sense.
LOIS:
Yes, you girls will be playing Mary of Bethany and Mary Magdalene.
TERESA, confused:
We will be?
MONICA:
And who will be playing Mary, the mother of Jesus?
LOIS, shocked:
Well, I will be, who did you think would?
MONICA:
Well, me for sure.
LOIS, giggles:
You, Monica Adams? . . . Mary, the mother of Jesus? . . . I don’t think so!
TERESA:
Lois, and just what makes you think you would just naturally be Mary?
LOIS:
Well, after all, I am on the organizing committee of the Ladies Time Out program.
