Couldn't load pickup availability
Run-Time: 10 minutes
Cast: 6 actors (any age or gender)
Theme: Everyone faces temptation—but we’re never alone.
Bible References: Matthew 6:13, Matthew 26:41, 1 Corinthians 10:13
In this light-hearted yet powerful skit, Tom tries (and hilariously fails) to fix a watch, while his friends look on in disbelief. As the broken timepiece becomes a symbol for our own messy lives, the conversation turns from frustration to faith.
What starts as comic chaos turns into a thoughtful moment about the strength we think we have, the temptation we all face, and the grace that’s always available through Christ.
Best Performed With: Strong character interaction, plenty of laughs, and a moment of honest reflection.
Perfect for: Youth groups, Sunday services, or small group devotions.
Sample Script
Tom
Give me a hand, will you Ellen? You squeeze that side, I’ll squeeze this side. I think we can force the back on. Try this screwdriver.
Ellen
But even if we could, all the parts would be mashed.
(Ken and Maria enter stage)
Ken
Look out, Tom has a screwdriver!
Maria
Run for cover, beware falling boulders!
Ken
Did that used to be a watch, Tom?
(Tom looks disgustedly at Ken. Terry and Sarah enter stage.)
Terry
What’s happening here?
Ellen
Hi Terry, Sarah. Tom has taken on watch repair.
Terry
I will choose to believe I never heard that. It is simply too scary.
(Sarah picks up a very small item from the floor.)
Sarah
Wonder where this little wheel thingie is from?
Ken
I’m gonna go way out on a limb here. Notice that little wheel thingie was right under the spot where Tom is working on his watch? I’m gonna take a stab, but my best guess is this little wheel thingie is out of that watch.
Sarah
No way! You figured that out just from that tiny little clue?
Maria
Ken is quick that way, Sarah.
Sarah
Are you serious? That is way out awesome!
(Everyone looks at Sarah, disbelief on their faces.)
Ellen
Is that really out of your watch, Tom?
Tom
It’s not a biggie. That was just one of the leftover parts when I went to put my watch together.
Terry
Am I hearing you had other leftover parts besides the wheel thingie?
(Sarah leans down to the floor.)
Sarah
Oh, here is a screw thingie and a spring thingie.
Ellen
Seems like the watch left behind quite a few thingies. Makes you wonder just what thingies are anyhow.
Maria
My guess is it’s a technical term for a UFO.
Sarah
UFO?
Maria
Unidentified Fallen Object.
Sarah
Wow! Here I thought I was just picking up thingies off the floor… turns out I am involved in UFO recovery! Wow! Wait ‘til I tell my mom!
(Ken looks at Sarah, does a double take.)
Ken
Anyhow... why did you leave all these parts out, Tom?
Tom
Was no room.
Ken
But weren’t you concerned that the watch might not work without those parts?
Tom
Figured they were spares.
Terry
Seems like we should be hoping that didn’t start off as a really expensive watch.
Tom
You know, I am tempted to take out a few more extra parts so this baby will close up.
Maria
Like the good pastor always says, “Yield not to temptation.”
Ellen
Too bad that temptation was so strong when you first got the notion to play doctor with that watch, Tom!
