Sketch 1 – “God Doesn’t Have to Be a Mystery”

[Lights up. Tara and Rachel are center stage, peering into a large open Bible. They’re clearly frustrated.]

Tara: Ugh, I’ve been reading this passage in Ephesians over and over, and I still feel like I’m missing something!

Rachel: Tell me about it. It’s like trying to find buried treasure with a bent spoon.

Tara: There’s all this talk about blessings and promises, but it just feels... out of reach.

Honestly, if this were a mystery novel, I’d skip to the last chapter and hope for a plot twist.

[Leslie steps onstage, observing them with curiosity from a distance.]

Tara:
I wish someone could explain these Bible passages in plain English.
You know, someone trained in decoding mysteries.

Rachel:
Like a spiritual Sherlock Holmes?

[Sherry and Dottie appear next to Leslie, smiling confidently. They walk up to Tara and Rachel.]

Sherry:
Did someone say “spiritual Sherlock”?

Tara and Rachel (startled):
Whoa! Who are you?

Dottie:
Just your friendly neighborhood sleuths — on assignment to help uncover the greatest mystery ever written.

Leslie (stepping forward):
Inspector Leslie Traud. And these are my associates — Sherry Holmes and Dottie Watson.
Direct descendants of the famous trio from Scotland Yard.
We’ve traded crime scenes for Scripture.

Rachel:
Wait... you’re saying you investigate the Bible?

Sherry:
Indeed. The Word of God is filled with hidden treasures — but not hidden from us... hidden for us.

Dottie:
Like Ephesians 1! All those spiritual blessings?
They’re not buried. They’re waiting to be discovered.

Tara:
But I’ve been trying. I read the words, I go to church, I listen to podcasts, and I even bought those fancy pastel highlighters...
(holds up a small case)
...but none of it feels real.
It’s like everyone else is experiencing God, and I’m stuck on the outside, trying to crack the code with a butter knife. . . . .

Sketch 2 – “God’s Word: Fact, Not Fairy Tale”

Theme: The Bible is true and trustworthy
Focus: Identity in Christ + Trusting God's Word (Ephesians 1:13–14)

Characters

  • Sherry Holmes – Wise, confident
  • Dottie Watson – Warm, enthusiastic
  • Leslie Traud – Steady, detail-loving
  • Kim – Curious but skeptical
  • Angie – Believer, but unsure how to explain her faith

[Lights up. Kim and Angie are center stage. Kim is holding a worn Bible. Angie watches as Kim flips through the pages with a doubtful look.]

Kim:
Angie, I’ve been reading some of these stories, and... no offense, but parts of this sound like a mash-up between a fairy tale and a superhero movie.

Angie:
I get that. I used to feel the same.
But over time, I started seeing the truth underneath the crazy-sounding parts.

Kim:
I mean—talking snakes? Parting seas? People walking on water?
If that’s not fantasy, I don’t know what is.

Angie:
Okay... but what if it’s not fantasy?
What if God really can do impossible things — and what if He’s still doing them?

Kim:
That’s a nice thought... but how do you even start believing that?

[The sleuths step out from the side and stroll toward the women. Leslie adjusts her magnifying glass. Sherry and Dottie smile knowingly.]

Sherry:
I believe I heard someone asking the right kind of question.

Dottie:
“How to believe.” That’s a case we’ve tackled many times before.

Kim (alarmed):
Okay, who are you?

Leslie:
We’re part of the Scripture Sleuth Society.
I’m Inspector Leslie Traud, and these are my brilliant companions — Sherry Holmes and Dottie Watson.

Angie:
You’re detectives… of the Bible?

Sherry:
Indeed.
We specialize in helping people uncover the endless treasures in Christ —
especially when the stories seem too far-fetched to be real.

Kim:
Perfect. Then maybe you can explain how I’m supposed to believe that God parted a sea and kept a guy alive inside a fish.
