Toad and the DAR

You are God's own child.

"Toad and the DAR" is a comedic skit featuring Toad and Frog, exploring the idea of identity and belonging.

Toad is excitedly researching his ancestry on a laptop, convinced that he descends from dinosaurs and other notable creatures. He hopes to qualify for an exclusive group, the Descendants of Ancient Reptiles (DAR). Frog, however, points out that Toad is an amphibian, not a reptile, challenging his reasoning. As the conversation unfolds, Frog reminds Toad of his true identity as a child of God, referencing a Gospel song they both love. Toad ultimately realizes that being part of God's family is more important than tracing his ancient lineage—but not before discovering that one of his ancestors was a pirate ship mascot!

(Toad is in the room, working on a computer and making notes. Frog enters.)

Frog: "Hello, Toad. What are you doing?"

Toad: "I am researching my ancestors on this website. Did you know I have a relative that lived in Thomas Edison’s garden? And my great uncle George was adopted by a family of Komodo Dragons?"

Frog: "That’s interesting, I guess. Why do you care?"

Toad: "It’s important to know where you came from. Besides, I need to prove that I am qualified to join the DAR."

Frog: "The Daughters of the American Revolution? Toad, there is no way that you are the daughter of anything."

Toad: "Not THAT DAR. This is much more exclusive. I want to become a member of the Descendants of Ancient Reptiles. I’m sure one of my ancestors was a dinosaur."

Frog: "A dinosaur! Toad, I hate to break this to you, but dinosaurs were reptiles, not amphibians like us."
