Master’s Plans is a thought-provoking drama that explores the concept of giving and stewardship. The story follows three individuals who are asked to contribute resources to a mysterious building project. Skeptical and reluctant, they decide to give less than what was requested—only to later realize that the project was meant for their own benefit. The play highlights themes of trust, faith, and the blessings that come with generosity. Inspired by Jeremiah 29:11 and Malachi 3:10, it challenges audiences to reflect on their own giving and how they respond to God’s plans.

Scene Opens:
(Joyce, Gord, Norma, and Albert are on stage. Gord is holding a large blueprint or set of plans, looking at them with excitement.)
Joyce: Whatcha doin’ here, man?
Gord: Oh, hi Joyce! Working on a special project. I am really excited about it!
Norma: Really? A special project, huh? Wish someone would do something special for me. Never happens!
Gord: No? Aren’t you Norma, the one who just got her medical degree? And aren’t you now a doctor at University Hospital?
Norma: I will have you know that I worked hard for my degree! No one helped me out along the way, I’ll tell ya!
Albert: Wow! Look at the plans, will ya? Must be some kind of project you are working on here, sir!
Gord: These are the good plans I have for you.
Albert: Me? These plans are for me?
Gord: Yes, Albert, they are.
Norma: What did I tell you? This project is for Albert! I knew there wouldn’t be anything in it for me!
Gord: My plans are for you as well, Norma.
Joyce: Not fair! Your plans are for Norma and for Albert, but here I am, out in the cold, as usual!
Gord: No one is left out. My plans are for everyone. You are a part of my plans.
Norma: Oh sure, here it comes! A catch! What is this going to cost me?
Gord: Actually, not going to cost any of you anything.
Albert: No cost, huh? My dad used to say, “If it sounds too good to be true, it likely is!”
Joyce: Isn’t that the truth? But those are big plans there. Listen, tell me more, what do you want from us?
Gord: Well, Joyce, remember last year I gave you that big load of lumber? I noticed that you still have most of it in your shed. Could you bring me some of it to use in this project? Let’s see, as I recall, I gave you 10,000 board feet of lumber. Can you spare something around 1,000 board feet? Oh, yes, and Norma, I gave you 50 bundles of shingles. Could I have maybe five or six bundles for my project? That leaves you, Albert. I need your help as well. Remember when I brought you over that load of nails and glue? Not sure what you have used of that, but I know you could never use it all. Just bring me what you can spare, okay? Now, you will have to excuse me, I have work to do with this project!
(Gord exits stage left.)
Norma: How do you like that? This project of his is using my shingles!
Albert: What about me? I am expected to contribute as well!
Norma: Oh, boo hoo! So poor Albert has to give up some nails and glue!
Albert: Never can have too much inventory of nails and glue on hand, I tell you!
Joyce: Nails and glue! Cry about it! I had plans for all my lumber; I was going to build a garage to store my new car. Now I am supposed to bring most of it in for use in building a project for you guys!
Albert: For us? I seem to remember that he said the project was for all of us.
Joyce: Oh sure, but I bring in the big part! Where would the project be without my contribution?
Norma: Your contribution, Joyce? I seem to remember that it was he who gave you the lumber in the first place. So, really, you are just giving a portion of it back to him.
