What if the Christmas story wasn’t quiet at all? Prince of Peace takes audiences beyond the peaceful nativity scenes we often imagine, revealing the dramatic journey that led to that holy night. From the dark halls of Herod’s palace to the humble streets of Nazareth, from anxious shepherds in lonely fields to wise men studying the heavens—every path in this powerful production leads to one moment… the birth of Jesus Christ.

The story unfolds with tension, humor, and heartfelt faith. Joseph wrestles with doubt. Mary embraces a calling she doesn’t fully understand. Shepherds long for hope in a world that ignores them. Meanwhile, Herod’s paranoia grows as rumors of a newborn king spread across Judea.

Through trials, miracles, angels, and unexpected journeys, God quietly orchestrates events that change the course of history.

The result is a sweeping, cinematic Christmas drama that reminds audiences of something we often forget:
God’s greatest plans are often born in the most humble places.

Whether performed by a church, school, or community theater, Prince of Peace delivers a powerful message of hope, faith, and redemption—perfect for Christmas services and seasonal outreach events.

Narrator
Good morning/afternoon/evening, everyone! And Merry Christmas! Today/tonight, we gather to celebrate the greatest story ever told—the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We sing songs like “Silent Night” to remember this world-changing event. That night was truly silent and holy. But the journey that led to that precious moment was anything but quiet. It was a long and arduous road, one that could only be traveled through the power of Almighty God.

Today/tonight, we will tell you the FULL Nativity story and reveal the path that ultimately brought us to that silent, holy night.

Our story begins outside the formidable palace of King Herod. The night was as dark as could be. The town thieves Liam and Elijah walked down the ancient streets of Jerusalem, their hearts heavy with anticipation. Cold sweat and icy fear dripped from their weary foreheads as they pressed on through the darkness.

Liam
Come on! We’re gonna get caught if you don’t hurry up!

Elijah
I’m tired! Can’t we do this some other time?

Liam
No! The time is now. King Herod is driving our nation into the ground. It’s time for us to teach him a lesson.

Elijah
Well, what are we gonna do?

Liam
This is his palace.

Elijah
(gasps) You could fit over a hundred of my houses in there!

Liam
Exactly! He’s keeping all of the riches for himself while we go destitute and starve to death!

(picks up a couple of rocks)

Let’s send him a little message, shall we?

Elijah
I like what you’re thinking, but we need to hurry!

Liam
Don’t be such a worry wart! We’ll be fine!

Elijah
(sarcastically) Do you NOT remember how crazy the king is?! If he finds us out here, we’re dead!

Liam
Calm down! We’ll be fine. I promise.

(lifts up a rock)

On 3. 1...2...

(Liam and Elijah lift their arms as if about to throw rocks at the palace. Suddenly, Herod and guards come out to meet them.)

Herod
What are you two fools doing out here?!

Elijah
(jumps and screams)
(to Liam) I told you! I can’t go back to jail!

Liam
(stuttering)
You see, Your Highness, we were just, um… decorating.

Herod
Decorating?! I am the king! I don’t want pieces of filth like you near my palace!

Liam
We are sorry, Lord Herod. We’ll leave.

(Liam turns to leave. Herod grabs his hand, stopping him.)

Herod
Oh no, no, no. You’re not leaving.

(throws Liam to the ground and kicks him)

Elijah
Hey! Don’t touch him!

Herod
You don’t tell me what to do, peasant! Guards!

(Guards run up and bind Elijah.)

Elijah
(snaps, fearful)
What are you gonna do, Herod?! Are you gonna execute us like you did the Sanhedrin?! Like what you did to our own people!

Herod
What people?! You’re animals! You may not like me or enjoy my leadership, but I will force all of you Jews to remember that I am your king! I am the King of the Jews! The ONE and the ONLY!

Liam
When the Messiah comes, He will destroy you and your kingdom.

Herod
Your Messiah is not real! He’s never coming! He is not your Savior! I am! Let’s see if your messiah can save you from this! Guards, take these two to the dungeon. They will be executed at dawn!

2- (Nazareth Marketplace)

(Joseph and Shahar are working in their carpentry shop)

Narrator
As you can see, Herod’s reign along with Rome’s ruthless dominion over the known world was leaving dark splotches all across Israel. They all longed for the Messiah to come. By the day, their hope was growing smaller and smaller. However, little did they know, their Savior was just on the horizon. And His journey was soon beginning in the small town of Nazareth.

It was a typical day in Nazareth. The sun was shining in all of its brilliance, and villagers of all shapes and sizes were in the marketplace, looking for the next best thing to buy. Joseph and his co-worker Shahar were in their carpentry shop gathering wood for their next big project. Joseph was engaged to be married to a young woman named Mary. From the moment they first laid eyes on each other, Shahar and the whole town knew that they were destined to be together.

Shahar
Joseph! The day is almost here! I can’t believe you’re getting married! My little apprentice is all grown up!

Joseph
I’m nervous, Shahar. What if I make a mistake? What if we get married and I ruin everything? What if—

Shahar
What if! What if! What if! Stop saying that, Joseph! You need to trust in the Lord.

Joseph
I know. I just… I’ve never felt this way about anyone.

Shahar
I understand. I remember the first time I laid eyes on my better half! You see, I was walking from my house to the shop when I tripped over a rock! I fell flat on my face on the dirt street—that’s why my nose is a little crooked here.

(points to nose)

You want to touch it?

Joseph
Thanks, but no thanks, Shahar.

Shahar
Suit yourself, Joseph. Anyway, I looked up and POOF! There she was!

(Shahar begins to choke up, wipes tears from his face)

Oh, I miss her. Remember this, boy. Hold tight to your love. You never know what the Lord has in store, and when He is going to take her or you home.

Joseph
Thank you, Shahar. You are a true friend.

Shahar
(slaps Joseph on the back, causing Joseph to jolt)
I try my best!
