Both actors are on stage, likely kneeling, as lights come up. A moderately darkened stage works best.

Paul: Good morning Silas! What a beautiful new day!

Silas: Beautiful? A night spent in the smelly old jail, with guards shouting at us, with rats running about, and every time I moved all night I could feel the rough stones digging into my body . . . how can you call such a night wonderful?

Paul: Oh, but Silas, remember the wonderful talk we had last night with the guards?

Silas: Yes, Paul, you are right of course, the evening was amazing! How incredible that even in this jail we would have the opportunity to tell people about the Christ!

Paul: The one guard, Antonio, he said he is coming by again to hear more about Jesus.

Silas: Paul, isn’t it amazing to see how when people learn about Jesus their lives are miraculously, almost instantly, changed.

Paul: Seems to me what is really amazing is how God is allowing the two of us, Roman citizens, to be used in announcing the good news to all people.

Silas: Yes, isn’t it wonderful how God has blessed us?

Paul, laughing: Can you imagine if anyone was listening in on our conversation right now? Here we are, in this jail, miles from home, beaten, fed slop that even pigs would find revolting, our very lives in danger. So what are we doing? We are praising God for allowing us to be here!

Silas: You are right Paul. But this much I know, I am right in the very position, the very situation that God created me for. . .
