Loving your neighbor. A thoughtful comedy with Mac believing that unless you are "one of us" (Christian), then being a good neighbor is sometimes out of the question. Perhaps forgetting that there would be opportunities for sharing the Gospel. We must not judge others in the name of Christianity.

A Neighborly Conversation
(Mac and Cindy walk on stage from different directions and meet center stage.)
Mac: Hi, Neighborette! And how are you?
Cindy: Oh, hi Mac! Fine, just fine!
Mac: Beautiful morning, isn’t it? Sun shining, birds singing—what more could we ask for? God truly is good!
Cindy: Yes, yes, He is. It sure is gorgeous, Mac.
(David enters the stage.)
Cindy: Oh, hi David! Good to see you out and around. How are you feeling?
David: Oh, hello, Cindy. Well, doing OK. Still a little weak, but getting better every day, seems like.
Cindy: Good to hear that. (Looks at Mac, who hasn’t acknowledged David.) You two know each other, don’t you?
David: Mac, isn’t it?
Mac: Yes, yes, that’s right. Donald, . . .
David: . . . David.
Mac: Right, right. Well, (glances at watch) must be getting . . .
David: Oh, sorry, I’ve interrupted your conversation. I’ll see you again. Bye.
Cindy: Not at all, David! I’ve been meaning to call—
Mac: —Good seeing you again, Darren . . .
David: . . . David.
Mac: Er, yeah, that’s right. See ya around.
(David exits the stage.)
Mac: You know, I’m a little surprised, you being so friendly with that person. You must know, he’s— (leans in closer to Cindy, as if sharing a secret) —not one of us.
Cindy: Not one of us? I’m not sure what you mean by “one of us.” I . . .
(Terry enters the stage.)
Terry: Cindy! How are you? I wanted to tell you—I sure had a good time at your party last night!
Cindy: So glad you could come! We must do that again.
Terry: No way! Next time, the party’s at our house! Oh, hi Mac! We missed you at Cindy’s party last night.
Cindy: Yes, sorry you didn’t come. Fred Melrose and I were just saying we hoped that you were feeling OK.
Mac: OK? Oh, yes, I was fine. But parties—well, I’m not much for going to parties. Except at the church—missionary banquets, that sort of thing. But not (emphasizes) parties.
Cindy: Thanks for reminding me, Mac! Terry, are you free to come as our guest to a neighborhood banquet at church on the 4th?
Terry: The 4th… let’s see, what day of the week is that?
Mac: (interrupting) A Wednesday. If I’m not mistaken, Wednesday is your bowling night. Besides, Cindy, if you check, I believe you’ll find all of the tickets are already spoken for.
Cindy: Oh, I’m so sorry! I was looking forward to having you come to the church banquet with us.
Terry: Look, well, maybe another time. Say, it’s getting late—I gotta go. See ya, Mac. Thanks again for the party, Cindy!
(Terry exits the stage.)
