This moving monologue follows a woman as she prays, struggling with feelings of loneliness and doubt. She hesitates to bring her concerns before God, feeling selfish compared to others with greater needs. As she pours out her heart, a male voice-over—representing God’s comforting words—gently reassures her with Scripture, reminding her that she is never truly alone. Through this intimate dialogue, she comes to realize that God understands her pain and promises His presence.

Costume:
Actress should be in everyday clothing.
Light:

Run-Time: approximately 6–8 minutes.
Sample Script:
(Single spot is already up on an empty center stage. Scene opens as the actress enters from stage left and stands in the spotlight at center stage. She should immediately bow her head to allow the audience to understand that she is praying. After a moment, she lifts her head up throughout the drama.)
Actress: (bowing head) Dear Father. I thank You for today. Thank You for my job, my health, my home. (Frustrated.) Lord, I can’t do this. I have to bring some issues to You that I’ve been dealing with. But every time I think about it, I feel so selfish. I mean, there are others who are praying for a lot more serious things than this. I feel as though I shouldn’t even bring it up.
(While the voice-over is heard, the actress simply bows her head, showing no reaction to the voice.)
Voice Over: Don’t worry. Instead, in every circumstance, through prayer with thanksgiving, bring your requests to Me.
(Each time the voice-over finishes, the actress shows no response.)
Actress: Father, I just feel like… I am worried that I will never… why don’t You want me to be happy?
Voice Over: Abide in Me. This I have spoken to you, so that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be complete.
Actress: I feel ridiculous praying about being single. I mean, there are so many other things I could be praying about, but Lord, this is on my heart. It’s just that I am getting tired of going to my friends’ weddings and then going home to an empty house. I am starting to think that there is no hope for me of ever finding someone.
Voice Over: Be filled with joy and peace in believing that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
