Bartimaeus begs by the side of the road, dare he invite Jesus to change his life forever?
Makes me wonder how a "career beggar," one who really knew no other existence, felt about Jesus giving him a life without barriers. Along with the incredible advantages, could he have some reservations?

Here I was, sitting at my usual spot, outside the city gates . . the busiest road out of town. Same like every day of my life, same old, same old.
Begging alongside dogs of the town, hoping for scraps from rich folk’s tables.
I hate it is what! And all the time getting treated like some kind of parasite, some guy who is a shame to society!
Get outta the town Bartimaeus!
Don’t be around decent folk Bartimaeus!
Go somewhere that folks don’t have to look at you 24/7.
"There goes old Bartimaeus," they all say!
You aren’t welcome here Bartimaeus!
What did I do to deserve this?
Nothing!
Zero!
All I ever did was be born!
Born blind!
Like some reject part of the human manufacturing process, paying every day of my life for a sin I didn’t commit.
Born blind means no possibility of a normal life.
Fact is I have no idea what normal is.
All I know is . . “Alms for the blind man!”
“Throw the blind man a piece of half rotted garbage that normal folk would puke at the thought of.”
You aren’t welcome here Bartimaeus!
So go on, leave us good folks alone.
Story came down that some Nazarene prophet was coming into town.
Big deal!
