Writer: Blake Randolph
What happens when faith refuses to bend, even under pressure from a king?
In Daniel and the Lion’s Den, Blake Randolph retells the familiar biblical story with warmth, tension, and plenty of stage energy. Daniel is faithful, steady, and deeply committed to God and that faith makes him stand out in all the right ways... and draws the wrong kind of attention. As jealousy grows inside the palace, a trap is set. What follows is a dramatic showdown between human pride and divine deliverance.
This script moves cleanly from light character moments to real spiritual weight. You get humor in the court, tenderness in Daniel’s everyday faith, and then that unforgettable turn toward the lion’s den, where trust in God becomes more than a lesson; it becomes survival. It’s the kind of skit that gives an audience something to feel, not just something to watch.
For churches looking for a Bible-centered drama with clear gospel application, recognizable characters, and a powerful ending, this one lands beautifully.

NARRATOR
Today we are here to tell you about a man named Daniel. Daniel was a governor in the province of Babylon. A new king was
sitting on Babylon’s throne. Darius. Darius reorganized his
kingdom. He appointed one hundred twenty governors to administer
all the parts of his realm. Over them were three vice-regents,
one of whom was Daniel. The governors reported to the
vice-regents, who made sure that everything was in order for the
king. But Daniel, brimming with spirit and intelligence, so
completely outperformed the others that the king decided to put
him in charge of the whole kingdom. Unsurprisingly, jealousy
began to take root in the hearts of the others. And roots of
jealousy are bound to grow.
INT. DANIEL’S HOUSE - DAY 1
The audience sees Daniel wake up with a yawn and stand up out of
bed. He moves over to his window and kneels before it, looking
out over the city. He closes his hands in prayer.
DANIEL
I give thanks unto You, Jehovah, that, in mercy, You have
restored my soul within me. Endless is Your compassion; great is
Your faithfulness. Blessed are You, Lord our God, Ruler of the
Universe, Who renews daily the work of creation. Amen.
Daniel stands up and stretches, yawning yet again.
DANIEL
Well, I better get ready for work or I will be late. Oh, I need
breakfast!
Daniel rushes over to a basket but finds no food there.
DANIEL
No more food? Well, I guess I will have to pick something up on
the way.
2
Daniel grabs his outer garment and puts it on. Next, he picks up
his work bag and heads out the door.
SCENE CHANGES TO MARKETPLACE
Daniel walks up to Adina’s market table.
DANIEL
Adina!
ADINA
Daniel! It’s so wonderful to see you! How have you been?
DANIEL
Blessed and highly favored. How about yourself?
ADINA
Not bad. The crowds have been disturbingly low this morning.
They can be overwhelming at times and it can be tough to keep up
with the pace - but when it's your livelihood, you start to
realize that being overwhelmed is just part of the game.(Chuckles)
Enough about me. How are you? Congratulations on your promotion!
DANIEL
Thank you, Adina! I don’t know where this new position will lead
me, but I know the Lord will light the way.
ADINA
Yes, He will. It is comforting to know that Jehovah will make a
way for us, especially in these trying times we live in.
DANIEL
Yes, it is.(Nods affirmingly) I would like a little breakfast,
Adina, figs if you have any.
ADINA
3
Daniel! You and your figs! (Laughs) I have some fresh
pomegranates from the garden this morning. How about you try
some of that? Something new?
DANIEL
You have convinced me! One pomegranate, please! (Laughs)
Daniel reaches into his pocket and takes out a handful of coins.
Adina gives Daniel the squash and Daniel gives Adina the coins.
Adina looks at the coins in shock.
ADINA
Daniel, this is triple what it costs. I can’t take this.
DANIEL
I insist. Your heart for the Lord is so beautiful, Adina. Since
the moment I first met you here in Babylon, I have seen how
Jehovah has used you to help others and draw them closer to His
kingdom. And I know that He will continue to use you in mighty
ways. I want to be just a small part of your journey.
ADINA
Thank you, Daniel. That means more than you know.
DANIEL
I hope you have a blessed day, Adina.
ADINA
You too, Daniel.
Daniel takes a bite of his pomegranate and walks away from
Adina’s table, heading into the palace.
INT. KING DARIUS’S PALACE 2
The administrators are seen talking to Darius. Sitting on his
royal throne, Darius is bored with what the administrators are
sharing with him. Daniel is seen walking in.

ADMINISTRATOR 1
So, my king, in conclusion to this three-hour session, we just
have a few more points to—
Darius notices Daniel and jumps up out of his throne.
DARIUS
Daniel! (Looks to Administrators) Out of my way, please!
