Grade 3 – 11 Children
1st Child:
In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary.
2nd Child:
The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”
Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be.
3rd Child:
But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus.”
4th Child:
He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end.
5th Child:
"How will this be," Mary asked the angel, "since I am a virgin?"
6th Child:
The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.”
7th Child:
"Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month. For nothing is impossible with God.”
8th Child:
"I am the Lord's servant," Mary answered. "May it be to me as you have said."
Then the angel left her.
9th Child:
Pregnant! Can you imagine how scary that would be? And not just pregnant, but pregnant with the Son of God.
10th Child:
I can’t even imagine how Mary must have felt! Scared. Alone. Afraid of how she would tell her parents. And Joseph.
11th Child:
Mary said, “I am the Lord's servant, may it be to me as you have said.”
Wow! I wonder what I would have said if I was in Mary’s situation?
Grade 4 – Waiting For The King – Readers Drama (8 Children)
1st Child:
Many, many years ago, the people were waiting for a mighty warrior.
2nd Child:
A mighty warrior who would fight all their battles, answer all their problems, make their life easy.
3rd Child:
The king had promised to send someone, but that had been many years ago, and no mighty warrior ever came. . . .
4th child: Actually, some warriors came along who claimed to be the mighty warrior, but every time, they proved to be phony, not the real mighty warrior.
5th child: And so the people waited and waited. all: This waiting is so hard!
6th child: The king sent messengers to the people from time to time,
7th child: telling the people that they must be strong and kind and truthful, and telling them that if they were . . . . (continued)
The Presence of Angels - Grade 5 & 6
Shepherds enter from rear doors of sanctuary in great excitement. This high level of excitement must be carried throughout the main portion of the presentation.
Shepherd 1: At first I wasn't sure what it was. As we were resting on the ground, looking up into the heavens, they looked like clouds, high above us, moving as clouds often do. Yes, yes, and then came the sound!
Shepherd 2: I'm not sure what first drew my close attention. Maybe it was the sound, or perhaps the bright, bright starlight. In my many years as a shepherd, I had seen bright stars, but nothing like this!
Shepherd 3: Well, for me it was the sound. While tending the temple flocks, I had often heard the songs of the storm and the gentle sigh of an evening breeze. But never had I heard such music as from those skies on that hallowed night.
