Bill seated at centerstage reading newspaper. Lorrie enters, frantic.

Lorrie, panicked: Where is it? Where could it be?

Bill, looking over paper: Lose something?

Lorrie: No I did not lose something! I never lose anything! I just uh, (pause), can’t remember where it’s waiting for me., that’s all.

Bill: All right, makes sense. What exactly did you lose?

Lorrie: I didn’t lose it, I tell you!

Bill: Fine, Lorrie! Okay, sorry! What, then, are you looking for that you already know where it is but just seem to have forgotten temporarily?

Lorrie: Are you mocking me? I can’t believe my own husband is mocking me!

Bill: What are you talking about? We have been married for eight years, Lor. Of course by now I’m mocking you!

Lorrie: I should have known. I should have known that you would not have any interest at all in our child’s future.

Bill: What? Wait a minute! Now you’ve really lost me!

Lorrie: The list! I can’t find the list!

Bill, sighing: Not the list again! I thought you had made that list up when Brian turned two years old!

Lorrie: I did. And I tucked it away in safe place so that every four months I can revise it as necessary!

Bill: But, Lor, do you really think this list is needed? I mean we’re not exactly the first people to be in this situation.

Lorrie, shocked: Sometimes I feel like I don’t even know you anymore! How can you be so casual about this!

Bill: Someone has to keep their head through this!
