As We Forgive Those

Forgiveness is difficult; forgetting is even more of a problem.

Debts and trespasses come in many shapes and sizes and aren’t easily defined and harder to forgive.

Jamie comes onstage to downstage location; Payton rolls eyes, looks angry

Morgan: What’s wrong Payton, something you don’t like about Jamie being here?

Payton: It’s a free country Morgan, I guess anyone can come and go anywhere they want to.

Tyler: Wow, Payton!...  Doesn’t sound like you are too glad to see Jamie.

Payton: Guess you could say Jamie isn't at the top of my Christmas card list.

Morgan: Did something happen between you and Jamie?

Payton: Let’s just say we have issues. .  But that’s OK, since I am a Christian I have forgiven Jamie.

VOG: You maybe you are forgetting my instructions are to forgive and forget. Sounds to me like you are forgiving and remembering.

all actors react to VOG

Morgan: You scare me when you do that!

VOG: Sometimes, maybe that’s a good thing.

Payton: But God, if you remember I prayed about it and I said I forgave Jamie, and I even asked you to forgive him too.

VOG: Quick instruction for you Payton . . .  When you pray don’t give me instructions, just report for duty.

Payton: Sorry, God.

VOG: Yes Payton, I sense you are indeed sorry. . . Now back to this issue with Jamie.

Payton: That’s just a matter between me and Jamie.

VOG: Actually Payton, that’s where you are wrong. If you talked with Jamie about this . . . which I strongly suggest you do . .  you would actually find out Jamie has no idea what you are talking about.

Payton: Well isn't that just great!  Here I follow your instructions and I forgive Jamie for his trespasses or debts or whatever against me . .  and he doesn’t even remember.
