You'll Find Jesus There is a touching drama about faith, suffering, and the power of belief. It follows young Timmy, a boy facing a critical heart surgery, who confidently tells the surgeon that when he opens his heart, he will find Jesus there. The skeptical surgeon dismisses Timmy’s faith, but after the operation, when he realizes there is no medical hope for the boy, he is overcome with anger and doubt about God’s purpose. Meanwhile, Timmy’s unwavering faith comforts his family, and his prayers inspire the hospital chaplain. In the end, the surgeon reads the religious tract Timmy gave him and is moved to pray the sinner’s prayer, undergoing a transformation. When he visits Timmy in the chapel, he confirms that he did indeed find Jesus in the boy’s heart—not just physically, but spiritually—marking a profound moment of redemption.

SCENE 1: INT. HOSPITAL - DAY

(TIMMY, age 8, is wheeled into an office, accompanied by his parents. SURGEON shakes hands with the parents, then squats down beside the boy.)

SURGEON
Timmy, tomorrow morning, I'll open up your chest and...

TIMMY (interrupting)
You'll find Jesus there.

SURGEON (patiently)
An operation is needed to find out how much damage has been done...

TIMMY
But when you open up my heart, you'll find Jesus in there.

(SURGEON looks at PARENTS, who stand quietly.)

SURGEON
After the surgery, I'll sew your heart and chest back up and I'll plan what to do next.

TIMMY
But you'll find Jesus in my heart. The Bible says He lives there. The hymns all say He lives there. You'll find him in my heart.

SURGEON
I'll tell you what I'll find in your heart.
(standing)
I'll find damaged muscle, low blood supply, and weakened vessels. And I'll find out if I can make you well.

TIMMY
And Jesus too. He lives there.

(PARENTS wheel TIMMY out of the room. Just before he exits, Timmy shouts:)

TIMMY
Wait!

SURGEON
What is it?

(TIMMY offers a tract.)

TIMMY
Promise me you'll read this before the operation.

(SURGEON nods perfunctorily. When TIMMY is wheeled away, SURGEON stuffs the tract in his pocket before following them out, shaking his head with disapproval.)

SCENE 2: POST-OP - STAGE IS DIVIDED INTO A DOCTOR'S OFFICE & HOSPITAL CHAPEL.

(Action swings back and forth between them.)

OFFICE: (SURGEON, dressed in scrubs, enters his office and records his notes into a handheld tape recorder.)

SURGEON
Damaged aorta, damaged pulmonary vein, widespread muscle degeneration. No hope for transplant, no hope for cure. Therapy: painkillers and bed rest. Prognosis...
(pause)
...death in one year.

(SURGEON stops the recording. Pause. Then shakes his fist at heaven.)

SURGEON
Why? Why did you do this? What kind of a God puts a boy like that here, puts him in this kind of pain, and curses him to an early death? Why?

(He remembers the tract, takes it out and reads it.)

CHAPEL: (TIMMY, asleep in his chair, is wheeled into the chapel, accompanied by his PARENTS and a CHAPLAIN.)

CHAPLAIN (addresses family)
The Lord says, "Timmy, My lamb, was not meant for your flock for long, for he is a part of My flock, and will forever be. Here, in My flock, he will feel no pain and will be comforted as you cannot imagine. One day, you, his parents, will join him here, and you will know peace, and My flock will continue to grow."

(SURGEON throws the tract on the floor in anger.)

SURGEON
You created that boy, and You created that heart. He'll be dead in months. Why?

(SURGEON sits in his chair and weeps.)

(TIMMY wakes up in the chapel.)

CHAPLAIN
The Lord hears your pain and answers: "Timmy, My lamb, shall return to My flock, for he has done his duty..."

(Through his tears, SURGEON sees the tract on the floor, leans over to pick it up, and commences reading it once again.)

(CHAPLAIN sees TIMMY is awake and kneels beside him.)

CHAPLAIN (continuing)
...I did not put My lamb with your flock to lose him, but to retrieve another lost lamb."

TIMMY
Will you lead me in my favourite prayer?

CHAPLAIN
You start.

TIMMY
Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner...

(As TIMMY prays the Sinner's Prayer, the CHAPLAIN and his parents join him, holding hands...)

(OFFICE: SURGEON reads the same prayer from his tract at the same time...)

ALL TOGETHER
...and need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died for my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I now invite You to come into my heart and my life. I want to trust and follow You as Lord and Saviour. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

(SURGEON stands up, takes a deep breath. His face relaxes, his body comes alive, and a smile takes over. He puts on a jacket, and there is some sense of him as a new man.)
