The final lap is here, and the racers are ready to share their passion—but not just for racing! As they realize that new drivers don’t magically appear, they learn an even bigger lesson: spreading the word is key—whether it’s about racing or about Jesus.
With plenty of fast-paced humor (and Laps singing just a little off-key), this finale challenges everyone to step out, speak up, and share the good news. Inspired by Acts 1:8, this skit is the perfect mix of fun and faith, making it a must-have for VBS, camps, and children’s ministries.
It’s time to take the message to the world—on and off the racetrack!
This is FINAL Segment #5 of 5 part drama “Telling Others About Jesus”.
NOTE: All segments can be ordered as standalone scripts or as a complete series.
Winning the Race is designed for VBS or children's camp but works well in any setting. This engaging skit follows five uniquely entertaining race car drivers as they navigate the road to discovering God’s purpose for their lives. Using the high-energy theme of car racing—along with a healthy dose of family-friendly humor (guaranteed to keep both kids and leaders laughing!)—each segment explores a different aspect of finding purpose in life. The five segments include:
-
- Complete series of 5 segment scripts
-
or for individual segments:
- Segment #1: knowing and following Jesus (John 17:3)
- Segment #2: through true worship (Mark 12:30)
- Segment #3: knowing God’s people (Ephesians 2:19)
- Segment #4: serving God (Ephesians 2:10) link
- Segment #5: telling others about Jesus (Acts 1:8)
Cast: 6
- Andi Airhead
- Randy Ratchet
- Ted Tirechanger

- Laps the Racer, the singer and guitarist, (sorry we couldn’t find anyone with talent but he comes free so . . .), but Laps is a wannabe singer and a wanna be racer
- and all these work together to result in silliness with a strong Christian message

Sample of THIS “TELLING OTHERS ABOUT JESUS” SEGMENT #5 script:
(All actors except Laps come on stage.)
Andi: You know, we have really found a bunch of ways of making car racing better and more exciting.
Randy: We sure have! I have never seen all the racers so pumped about car racing!
Ted: I know what you are saying, Randy... from the youngest to the oldest racers, everyone feels really good about racing.
Wendy: You know, I can’t remember a time when things looked so good for the future of car racing.
Trudy: Well, I kinda agree, but the thing is, in order to have a future, we need new racers, and we seem to only have the same racers as before.
(Laps comes on stage, singing and strumming guitar.)
Andi: Well, there is Laps.
Ted: Well, things can’t all be positive.
Laps (sings):
Oh they call me a racer
I bin racin' long time
It’s for sure I'm a legend
Only in my own mind.
Oh I race when I’m able
And I help when I can
I am proud to be racing
And I’m part of the plan
So if you are a racer
Or you’re wantin’ to be
Just remember us racers
Know it don’t come for free.
(Laps moves to extreme upstage position and continues to sing in mime—no sound is heard—while the other actors talk.)
Randy: You gotta say this much for him—Laps is for sure telling folks about racing.
Andi: He sure is, and he is not one bit hesitant about who he tells either.
Trudy: Maybe that’s our problem; we aren’t spreading the word about racing to all who need to hear the message.
