Over the centuries there has been much speculation about the rapture . .
when, how, who, where. . . But are we missing the whole point? We are told to keep watch and to be prepared for the return of Jesus . . . “when the roll is called up yonder.”

A beautiful old hymn:
(sings or speaks)
"When the trumpet of the Lord shall sound and time shall be no more
And the morning breaks eternal bright and fair,
When the saved of earth shall gather over on the other shore,
And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there."
(pauses, speaks)
From 1 Corinthians 15:51:
"Take notice, I am telling you a secret.
We shall not all die, but we will all be changed,
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet call.
For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable,
And we shall all be changed."
(pauses, thinks)
The rapture.
(pause)
A frequent question:
The rapture… When will it happen?
(pause)
Nowhere in scripture are we urged to determine the date of Jesus’ return.
We are simply told to keep watch and to be prepared.
(shakes head, smiles)
Yet most of us take more time preparing for a seldom-seen neighbor’s birthday than we do for the second coming of the Savior of the world.
