Written as an announcement for promoting the Franklin Graham Crusade. Free use is granted to any church or group in the promotion of crusade or revival activities.

This drama is easily staged as an announcement as part of the regular church service. Have a group of people of various ages walk around the sanctuary, carrying a banner which announces the crusade or event. All those who are walking must take their roles seriously, the intent is to show that the participants are in prayer, therefore it must not be taken lightly, nor turn into a comedy.

Script Sample:

(Trevor and Frank speak from the sound booth or another offstage area. A Prayer March enters the sanctuary from the back doors. Trevor waits until the marchers reach the front before speaking.)

Trevor: Oh, man! What next? Another demonstration! What’ll it be this time? Oh, man, this is annoyin’! Always some… some… cause!

Frank: (Name of church) Church is showing its support for the Franklin Graham Crusade.

Trevor: Support for what? The Graham Crusade? Oh, man! Give me a break! Every Christian around knows that Franklin Graham is comin’ to the stadium on (date of crusade). I happen to know that Billy Graham is gonna be here as well. Every Christian in these parts will be at the crusade to see Michael W. Smith and… especially… Johnny Cash. Since when does Billy Graham need people paradin’ around like a bunch of… of… protestors! Can’t they act like decent, reserved Christians? Oh, man, I’m not impressed with this kind of advertising!

Frank: This is not just advertising for the Graham Crusade. At the core of our support is prayer. (Name of church) has four weekly prayer groups meeting in homes throughout our city. And we have a Prayerline. Many groups in our church are setting time aside during their regular activities to pray for the crusade.

(Pauses, then adds with a bit of curiosity)

Come to think of it, Trevor, I can’t recall seeing you at any of the Prayer Groups.

Trevor: Oh, don’t get me wrong. Naturally, I’m prayin’ for the crusade too. In my own way, of course. In private. I’m sure that’s the way Billy Graham would want it.

Frank: In private? But Dr. Graham always invites people to come forward publicly.

Trevor: Oh, yeh… well, I guess I sorta forgot about that.

Frank: (Name of church) is organizing a Walk of Prayer in support of the Graham Crusade. And the theme of the Walk of Prayer is… prayer.

Trevor: Walk of Prayer? Ya mean, like… walkin’ and… prayin’? Oh, man! Ya mean they are gonna be… prayin’? In public?! Oh, man! Sure, I can see where we’ve got ta pray, but couldn’t we do it behind closed doors? I mean, isn’t that what we build churches for anyway?

Frank: We at (Name of church) believe that what’s needed is a public show of support for the Graham Crusade. Besides, as Dr. Graham tells people at the crusades…
