Sample of script:

Children seated side-by-side CS, teacher standing behind them, begins to move among them as she speaks.

Teacher: Morning children.

All children: Good morning teacher.

Teacher: Thank you all in advance for sitting so quietly while I explain all about our Giving Project for this year.

Jack: I have a little sister I could give away. Gladly actually.

Billy: Me too. And I could possibly part with my big brother as well.

Hannah: Boys! As if you would give your brother away!

Billy: Likely you are right . . . but make me an offer, just in case.

Kim: Don’t listen to them Hannah! They are just being . . . boys!

Jack: No way, I’m serious! My little sister has a nicer room than I. The way I look at it, she goes, maybe I get the room.

Kim: Only reason why your sister’s room is better, she keeps it clean! I’ve seen your room Jack Jones! Disasterville!

Jack: Clean room is sign of a sick mind, I always say. I don’t want to go there.

Teacher: Children, I think we are off on a bit of a tangent here. No one’s sister is going to be given away.

Billy: Exactly as I thought, teacher. But, that’s OK, I still come out ahead, I have to keep my sister, I get rid of my brother. Seems fair to me.

Hannah: You guys!

Teacher: Girls, the guys are only teasing you. But anyhow, this year we are doing something a little different. You may remember, in past years we have done things like making up food baskets and taking them to disadvantaged families in our community.

Jack: I remember. I packed the candy. I got really sick.

Hannah: Maybe if you would remember that the candy goes in the basket, not in your stomach.

Jack: As if! Well, . . . maybe one or two times.

Kim: Yeh, right!

Teacher: Personal favorite of mine was putting on suppers for our single mom’s group. But, this year’s project will involve giving a little bit more of each of you.

Billy: Look, I’m a giving kinda guy. I got this homework from Mr. Murphy’s math class! I’m willing to make the sacrifice. You can give my homework to some poor needy child somewhere.
