A gift given over 2,000 years ago, at great cost to the giver.

A gift that is available free of charge to everyone. Why is it that so many don’t accept this very expensive gift?

The gift was a guarantee of eternal life.

Why do most recipients of the gift never bother to pick up the gift?

actor comes onstage carrying a large pile of wrapped Christmas presents

at center stage actor loses control of the packages and they fall to the floor

actor, flustered, sees audience, speaks

Oh my, how clumsy of me!

I was taking these presents to my friends.

I just love Christmas, don’t you?

The good times, the gatherings with family and friends.

The wonderful food . . . (pats stomach, giggles) . . . of which I tend to go overboard.

For me it’s the most wonderful time of the year!

(thinks, leans down, picks up a present)

Oh yeh, and, of course, the presents.

Presents are wonderful . . .

Mostly . . .

Well, I mean, the sweater I got from my Aunt Norma was . . . interesting . . . .

And the socks and ties for all the males in the family tend to . . .

But, really . . . presents we give are the outward expression of our love for each other.

The indication of our efforts in saving up, denying our own needs and wants, to make the day a little brighter for another person.

And seems like everyone feels a little better, a little brighter receiving a Christmas gift.

Something about a gift . . . big or little . . . seems to put a smile on a face, a little bounce in the step, know what I mean?

I don’t care who you are, what age you are, young or old . . . when a gift comes along . . . you simply can’t hardly wait to tear off the paper, see what’s inside.

I mean . . . who gets a present and thinks . . . “I don’t think I’ll bother opening this gift.”

I mean, that would simply be . . . unthinkable.

Nobody just ignores a gift, leaves it unopened.

Suppose you knew what was inside the wrapped gift . . .

Suppose you knew it was pretty lame.

I mean, you might even . . . sorta, accidently on purpose, kinda, leave that gift to the very last before opening.

But still, before the end of the gift opening, you for sure would open every single gift . . . and even make a gallant effort to look pleased, even excited, when it comes to, for instance, Aunt Norma’s really bad sweaters! . . . I mean, never know, Aunt Norma’s sweater just might snag you first prize in the next Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest!

Sooooo . . . all I am getting at is . . . this Christmas . . . do you have any gift you are leaving unopened?

Do you have any unopened gift that maybe could even like maybe . . . change your life?

Can’t think of any?

Any Christmas gift . . . unopened?
