Sample Scene (Excerpt from Week 1 - "Choose Your Way")
(Connie comes on stage.)
CONNIE: Listen up then! All aboaaaaaarddddddddd!
(Tracquie and Jacquie come rushing on stage.)
TRACQUIE: Hey, wow! What was that, Jacquie? That hurt my ears, it was so loud!
JACQUIE: Oh never mind Traquie, that was just Connie, the conductor. Connie always says, “Listen up then! All aboaaaaaarddddddddd!” whenever Connie is getting all set to give us travellin’ instructions.
TRACQUIE: Travellin’ instructions?
JACQUIE: Yep! Information on best way to travel.
TRACQUIE: Travel where?
JACQUIE (points down the track): Down there, down the LLR track.
TRACQUIE: LLR? What’s that supposed to mean?
JACQUIE: Sorry, you are new here aren’t you? LLR is Life’s Long Road.
CONNIE: Listen up then! All aboaaaaaarddddddddd! (clears throat)
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. - Romans 3:23
TRACQUIE: So, like, that’s it?
JACQUIE: Yep, isn’t that wonderful.
TRACQUIE: I gueeessss, but like what does it mean?
JACQUIE: Well, see, thing is, there are always travellin’ choices.
TRACQUIE: Travellin’ choices.
JACQUIE: Yep, like for instance, look way down that track (points right), you’ll notice that is a really wide track.
TRACQUIE: Yep, wide, I can see that. And that’s good, right?
JACQUIE: Not a chance. Guys travellin’ that wide track get the idea they can do anything they want, maybe try to take a short-cut, maybe do a U-turn on the track.
TRACQUIE: A U-turn? Now that I know would be a bad news thing, jump the tracks, get all stuck in the mud! Nope, not good!
But what about that track down there, (points left), it’s a narrow track.
JACQUIE: You sure can figure things out good!
TRACQUIE: Well, I did win the “Most Likely to Brush His Hair” Award at school.
JACQUIE: See, the people on the train travellin’ the narrow track know they gotta be real careful, stay on the tracks, don’t take any shortcuts, obey the rules.
TRACQUIE: I heard much the same thing at Sunday School. We have to obey our parents, do things like God tells us in the Bible, stay away from doing bad things.
JACQUIE: You know, more I see of you, more I like what I see.
TRACQUIE: Well, I do want to do what Jesus expects in my life.
You know, we should go do some talkin’ about all this.
(The lesson unfolds as they explore the idea of choosing between the narrow and broad paths in life, based on Jesus’ teachings in Matthew 7:13-14.)
