This silent mime/clown drama portrays a person searching for purpose and identity by imitating those around them. As they mimic different individuals—each representing a harmful lifestyle—their path leads to disappointment and tragedy. They imitate a bored individual, a smoker who collapses, and a drinker who meets an unfortunate fate, realizing that following others only leads to emptiness. Finally, Jesus enters carrying a Bible, offering the truth: “Follow Me, for only I have the words of life.” When the person accepts the heart from the Bible, they leave the stage with newfound purpose and joy.
Run-Time:
Approximately 5-8 minutes, depending on the number of mimes and pacing.
Cast Number:
- Flexible Cast Size: Minimum 5 performers (Person #1, 3 imitated individuals, and Jesus), but additional mimes/clowns can be added to enhance the performance.
Biblical Reference:
John 6:68 – "Simon Peter answered him, ‘Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.’"
Ephesians 5:1 – "Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children."
Sample of script:
(Person #1 enters stage, pretending to pick up various “items.” They put them down, try something else, act bored, look around, stretch, and yawn.)
(Person #2 enters stage, sits down on a chair. Person #1 watches and sits down on a chair beside Person #2.)
(Person #2 crosses legs. Person #1 crosses legs.)
NOTE: Crossing legs may have very negative connotations in certain cultures. BEWARE of this in advance and delete this portion of the script where necessary.
(Person #2 adjusts hair. Person #1 adjusts hair.)
(Person #2 swats at an imaginary fly. Person #1 swats at an imaginary fly.)
(Person #2 ties shoe. Person #1 ties shoe.)
(This continues with various motions. Eventually, Person #2 gets annoyed with Person #1 mimicking all actions and leaves the stage.)
(Person #1 watches Person #2 leave, appears sad, and tries to find something to do.)
(Person #3 enters stage and mimes smoking. Person #1 mimics Person #3.)
(This goes on for a short time, then Person #3 starts coughing, goes to their knees, and falls flat on the floor, “dead.”)
(Person #1 watches as Person #3 lies on the floor, lifts their hand, and it falls limply back to the floor.)
(Person #1 again tries to find something to do.)
(Person #4 enters stage, mimes drinking, laughing, and having a good time. Person #1 mimes all actions of Person #4.)
