Don’t be fooled by appearances.
The House That Jack Built is a whimsical yet profound 3-4 minute solo (or two-person) performance that plays on the classic nursery rhyme—with a spiritual twist. With vivid storytelling, animated delivery, and rhythmic repetition, this drama draws the audience into two seemingly different households and subtly challenges assumptions about success, faith, and what really matters.
The surprise ending packs a powerful punch rooted in Matthew 7:24 and Luke 6:47-49—reminding us that the truest foundation isn’t the size of our house, but the Rock it’s built on.
Theme: Don’t judge by outward appearances—look at the foundation.

Sample of script:
This is the house that Jack Built
That is the house that Jill built.
And there sits the wife with the long golden hair
Who reads in the Louis the Sixteenth chair.
Inside of the house that Jack built.
The hallway is closed by a door made of beads
And she doesn’t have everything that she needs.
Inside of the house that Jill built.
And just down the way in the family room hall
Diplomas and artwork are hung on the wall
And there sits the wife with the long golden hair
Who reads in the Louis the Sixteenth chair.
Inside of the house that Jack built.
And down in the bedroom there hang on the wall
Some artwork -- in crayon and first grader scrawl.
The hallway is closed by a door made of beads
And she doesn’t have every thing that she needs.
Inside of the house that Jill built.
And inside the house by the big screen TV
The kids play some games on the new DVD
And just down the way in the family room hall
Diplomas and artwork are hung on the wall
And there sits the wife with the long golden hair
Who reads in the Louis the Sixteenth chair.
Inside of the house that Jack built.
And inside the house piles of toys and some books
Are picked up by Mom while she cleans and she cooks.
And down in the bedroom there hang on the wall
Some artwork -- in crayon and first grader scrawl.
The hallway is closed by a door made of beads
And she doesn’t have every thing that she needs.
Inside of the house that Jill built.
