The Fork Around the Bend – A Collection of Life-Changing Skits

Promo Description:

This dynamic collection by Robert Alan Ward features nine short dramas and two multi-part skits designed to entertain, provoke thought, and open hearts to the gospel. Developed through real-life ministry in Belgium with SportQuest, these skits blend humor and heart, silliness and substance, offering something for every setting—youth groups, camps, church events, and beyond.

From laugh-out-loud moments in “How to Win a Girl” to the deeply moving journey of “Unrequited Love,” each piece captures the moments when young lives encounter the “forks in the road” that point toward Jesus. Whether you're looking to break the ice or drive home a powerful message, The Fork Around the Bend equips your drama ministry with proven, flexible material.

Runtime:

Approximately 80–100 minutes total, depending on pacing and transitions.

  • Individual skits range from 5 to 15 minutes.
  • The two longer pieces (“Three Brothers of Flanders” and “Unrequited Love”) are multi-part and can be spread over several days or presented in full in 15–20 minutes each.

Cast Range:

Flexible – Minimum 3, Maximum 12+

Each skit includes:

  • 2–8 speaking roles (with optional crowd parts)
  • Many roles are gender-neutral or easily adaptable.
  • Great for small to medium-sized drama teams.

NOTE: “Three Brothers of Flanders” and “Unrequited Love” are also available as individual scripts from DramaShare

Dear drama leader,
These drama offerings are the result of four summers in Belgium with an organization called SportQuest. We worked through local churches in the Flanders part of the country, holding clinics to teach children and teens the fundamentals of various sports. While our Belgian and American athletes ran the sports, we drama people performed our vignettes during the break times and at evening programs. You will note a Belgian flavor in some of these dramas. Just in case you’re not in Belgium, feel free to adjust certain references to fit your locale. You may also have noticed the funky names given some of the characters. That’s just a quirk of mine. I like funky names and can’t stand being normal. Change them and be normal if you must.
