The Fall of Jericho is a lighthearted yet powerful retelling of Joshua 1-6, showing how God's plan led the Israelites to victory over Jericho. Joshua, the new leader of Israel, follows God's instructions, sending spies to scout Jericho, parting the Jordan River for the Israelites to cross, and orchestrating the miraculous fall of Jericho’s walls through faith and obedience. The play humorously portrays key events while reinforcing the message that trusting God's plan leads to victory. It ends with the joyful rescue of Rahab and her family, demonstrating God's grace and redemption.

Act 1

Cast:

  • Joshua
  • Israelite Leaders
  • Israelites

Scene: The Israelite camp on the east side of the Jordan River. Excitement fills the air as Joshua enters, dancing and celebrating.

Narrator: Welcome, welcome! Thank you for joining us today at the camp of the Israelites—God's chosen people—here on the east side of the Jordan River. It is an exciting day for sure! Look over there! Joshua, our newly appointed leader, is hopping up and down, wiggling with excitement. He has some big news!

(Joshua gathers the Israelite leaders, clearing his throat loudly before speaking.)

Joshua: Guys, God says to get everyone packed up. We are crossing the river to take hold of the land that He is giving us!

(The leaders erupt in cheers, jumping, hugging, and whistling in excitement.)

Joshua: (clears throat again) Oh yeah, one more thing—there are already people living there, so, uh… we might have to fight for it.

(The excitement pauses momentarily as the leaders process this information, then they nod and steel themselves for what’s ahead.)

Act 2

Cast:

  • Joshua
  • Israelites
  • Spies

Narrator: Well, here we are again with the Israelites and their leader Joshua. As you may recall, he’s still new to the job. How will the Israelites react to this latest news? Will they turn on Joshua? Will they start crying and run back to Egypt?

(The Israelites look at each other, scratch their heads, and then, for some reason, scratch their neighbor’s head as well. Finally, they turn back to Joshua.)

Israelites: Joshua, if you’re listening to God, we will listen to you. But don’t be a wimp, okay? Just do whatever He says!

(They gather around Joshua, patting him on the back and shaking his hand, then head off to spread the news.)

(Joshua suddenly grabs two of the men by their arms and holds on tight. They struggle to get away but finally give up and stand still.)

Spies: What’s up, Joshua?

Joshua: Listen, could you two go ahead of us and check out the land we’re about to enter? Take a really good look at the town of Jericho.

Spies: You got it, dude!

(The spies salute and dash off, ready for their mission.)
