We are hot on the heels of the stolen diamond, and the guilty party could be… YOU!
This interactive mystery dinner theatre invites the audience to take on the roles of legal counsel and jury, actively participating in solving the case.
Four audience members—selected in advance—will serve as lawyers, reading from a set of prepared questions to interrogate the suspects. After the questioning, each table will cast a vote (one ballot per table) for the couple they believe to be the most likely culprits.
Since there is no definitive guilty couple, each performance unfolds differently, with the outcome heavily influenced by the way the four couples present their characters.
No elaborate set is required, though a follow spot can enhance the drama. Get ready for a night of suspense, intrigue, and unexpected twists!

(Tommy-Jo enters through a side door, looks around, and becomes reflective.)
Tommy-Jo:
It was an evening much like this one.
(Pauses, taking in the room.)
Scene: A sleepy little town—Lubec, Maine. The tide was washing in, bringing a damp chill to the bones of all who ever lived near the ocean. And right out there—it was. The big one. The Atlantic Ocean.
(Gestures outward dramatically.)
Stretching as far as the eye can see. In the distance—Grand Manan Island. Nearer, Roosevelt Campobello International Park. Campobello Island, nestled in Passamaquoddy Bay. Passamaquoddy—just like it sounds, got that?
(Mockingly dramatic)
Locals boast about having the largest whirlpool in the Western Hemisphere! As if a whirlpool makes a place special! And just over there—New Brunswick. Canada. If a fella had sharp enough eyes, maybe even see the Rock—Newfoundland.
Now why am I telling you all this? Simple. If you don’t get this, you’ll never understand the story behind the story I’m about to tell.
(Pauses for effect.)
What story, you ask? Only the most difficult case I ever handled, that’s all!
(Leans forward, as if sharing a secret.)
What’s that? Who am I? Never heard of Larmer? Tommy-Jo Larmer? Ahhh—there it is! A flicker of recognition in your eyes. Yes, yes, that’s me—Tommy-Jo Larmer.
(Puffs up with pride.)
Gumshoe extraordinaire! One of the world’s best-known private eyes. Never once failed to solve a mystery.
(Pauses, smirks)
Well… except this one.
(Crosses arms, shaking his head.)
And let me tell you—it was her fault.
(Looks out at the audience, narrowing his eyes.)
Like I always said—no place in the PI business for women! Not right, that’s what! Private investigation—man’s work! No room for females.
(Grumbles)
Not likely!
(Pauses dramatically)
Lorna Sanderson.
(Scans the audience, leans forward)
Yeah, maybe you’ve heard of her. Canadian, she is. Hails from St. Stephen, New Brunswick. Claims she’s cracked a few cases—single-handed, no less! I don’t think so!
Lorna Sanderson. (Scoffs) What kind of name is that for a PI? Double 07—James Bond. That’s a name! Sherlock Holmes. Joe Friday. Mike Hammer. And Tommy-Jo Larmer. Now those are names!
But Lorna Sanderson?
I don’t think so!
(Grumbles, waves a hand dismissively.)
All her fault. If it wasn’t for that female, the K-K Diamond would never have been stolen. And even if it had, I’d have recovered it right quick.
(Pauses, then turns to the audience, eyes wide with disbelief.)
K-K. The K-K Diamond.
(Waits, scanning faces.)
You don’t know about the K-K Diamond?!
(Throws hands in the air)
The biggest, most perfect, most expensive diamond ever smuggled out of Africa?!
(Shakes his head)
Unbelievable. Can’t see how you could’ve missed hearing about the Kiss-Kiss Diamond!
(Pauses)
Yes, that’s what K-K stands for—Kiss-Kiss.
(Leans forward, eyes narrowing.)
Oh, not as in… (puckers lips mockingly) kiss!
(Scoffs)
That’s what threw her off track. The amateur.
(Smirks smugly)
Me? Nah. Gotta get up real early to get the best of Tommy-Jo Larmer!
(Clears throat, getting back on track.)
Now, where was I? Oh yeah. The Kiss-Kiss Diamond.
(Pauses for effect.)
The biggest, most perfect stone ever mined in Africa. Total perfection!
(Raises a finger, as if narrating a great legend.)
Mined at Kiss-Kiss Mine, Sierra Leone. Joey Tennebee, the mine manager, took one look at that diamond and said,
"This here diamond is one in a zillion. Only right we name it after this here mine!"
And so it was. The Kiss-Kiss Diamond.
(Nods as if confirming his own story.)
Then came the break-in. Diamond stolen. Thirty or forty other stones taken too.
(Leans in)
But Joey? He didn’t care about those other diamonds.
"Larmer," he said, "Forget about those thirty or forty others—just get me back the Kiss-Kiss Diamond!"
(Leans back, nodding smugly.)
And so I tracked the trail. From Africa, across the sea in an old scow, to the shores of Newfoundland. From there, things got messy.
Then I caught wind of a lead—a prime African diamond being fenced in a pawnshop in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
(Pauses)
And then—just when I was closing in—
(Glares at the audience)
Two words.
Lorna Sanderson.
(Exhales in frustration.)
Storms into the scene like a hurricane, scares off the mark… the whole case blows up in my face!
(Shakes head, then leans forward with a smirk.)
But I’ve got news for you.
(Looks around, lowers voice)
Can you keep a secret?
(Pauses for effect.)
Got a tip… a hot tip.
(Pauses)
The person—or persons unknown—who stole the Kiss-Kiss Diamond?
(Leans in close…)
They’re here.
(Looks around dramatically.)
Here. In this very room.
(Turns sharply, points at an audience member.)
Maybe it’s… YOU!
(Turns suddenly, pointing at another guest, laughing diabolically.)
… Or is it YOU?!
(Eyes narrowing)
Those beady eyes. That shifty smile.
Yes, yes. I shall be keeping a sharp lookout…
On YOU.
(Pauses, scanning the audience dramatically.)
Now—you all sit back, relax… while I go nose around out back.
(Tommy-Jo exits through the side door. Moments later, Lorna Sanderson enters through the opposite side.)
