Sample Script
Actors come on stage, chatting
Amy: And then this guy comes around the corner, says, “Fact is the devil made me do it!”
Jeanna: You have got to be kidding, Amy! I mean, he would like come right out and say a thing like that?
Tara: The nerve! Blows me away is what!
Amy: Exactly, Tara! I mean, the guy was being a jerk and here he blames it on Satan.
Jeanna: Was no way Satan, I agree with you Amy, the guy was being a jerk!
Tara: Well, I do agree, he was being a jerk, but only thing is, don’t we sometimes say that Satan does make us sin?
Jeanna: Tara does have a point there Amy. Like in the Bible when it says that Satan entered Judas.
Amy: OK, I buy that Jeanna, but still, like it says in the Bible, we do have the power, through Jesus and the Holy Spirit, to resist the devil. So, like, the devil can provide the temptation, but it is us who goes along with Satan’s lies or says no to them.
Jeanna: OK, so let me get this straight. When we get a bad thought it is from the devil. So does that mean that when we get a good thought it comes from God?
Tara: Umm, well, yeah, likely, yeah, I think likely.
Jeanna: Good to see you are so sure of yourself there Tara!
Tara: Hey listen here now, nothing is all cut and dried, there are some grey areas.
Jeanna: Gimme a such as.
Tara: Well, such as . . . I dunno, I mean, not sure if I can give you a straight out such as, like right on the spot, off the top of my head.
Amy: Well, s’pose you are walking along, beautiful day, sun shining down, birds singing in the trees, gorgeous day. But kinda hot a bit. Then all of a sudden pops into your mind this, “wow it would be nice for to have a triple-triple Chocolate Mocha Fruit Explosion ice cream cone with walnut sprinkles.”
Jeanna: Hey, a great thought! I mean like that has to come straight from God, I mean there is no question!
Tara: I happen to be with Jeanna on this one, straight from God it is. (to Amy) You did say a triple-triple with walnut sprinkles right?
Amy: Yep! A triple-triple with walnut sprinkles, formed from freshly made Chocolate Mocha Fruit Explosion ice cream.
Tara: Freshly made? Well then, no question, this one is straight from God!
Amy: Well, yah but, say what about if this mind popper idea happens just as you are walking home from school, with your mom waiting lunch for you.
Jeanna: How long before lunch would this be likely?
Amy: Look I don’t know, maybe like five minutes before.
Jeanna: Five minutes? Whooa, that’s like way up close to lunch. That makes this one much harder to say if it’s from the devil or from God.
Amy: Point is, your mom is waiting lunch for you.
Tara: Well, to really figure this one out, question you have to ask is, what’s for lunch?
Amy: What’s that supposed to matter, what difference would it make what’s for lunch, Tara?
Tara: Matters a lot. On the one hand it may be that your mom has made up spinach salad and string beans. Other hand might be she has Alphagetti with cream sauce waiting.
Amy: What difference does it make?
Tara: Can’t make a decision based on imperfect information.
Amy: Oh fine then! Let’s say it’s Alphagetti with cream sauce.
Tara: Now that is a poser! I am some fond of Alphagetti with cream sauce. . . . But it is no easy thing to pass up a triple-triple of freshly made Chocolate Mocha Fruit Explosion ice cream cone with walnut sprinkles either, I tell you!
