We’ve all wrestled with regrets — words unsaid, visits delayed, choices we wish we could change. Serious Regrets© brings this universal struggle to life through a raw and honest conversation between friends grappling with grief, fear, and faith.

When Andrea’s uncle passes away unexpectedly, regret and guilt flood in. Joined by others facing their own painful realities, the group wrestles with tough questions: Why does God allow suffering? Can we live without regrets? How do we move forward when we can’t go back?

With candid dialogue and heartfelt moments, this powerful five-person play opens the door to hope and healing. A thoughtful choice for church services, grief groups, youth discussions, or any setting where life’s hard questions are welcomed.

[Andrea and Nancy come on stage from different locations]

ANDREA: Hello Nancy, how are you doing?

NANCY: I’m well, really well Andrea, and you?

ANDREA: Oh, I’m getting by.

NANCY: Don’t sound so enthusiastic.

ANDREA: Sorry. Not one of my better days.

NANCY: Sorry to hear that. Anything specific or just generally a bad day?

ANDREA: Had a call from my mom. My uncle passed away.

NANCY: Oh Andrea, I am so sorry! What happened?

ANDREA: Cancer.

NANCY: Seems like there is so much of that. Had he suffered long?

ANDREA: That’s just it — he was diagnosed just three months ago.

NANCY: That is sudden.

ANDREA: I was going to go visit him, but I thought I would have lots of time. Now my regret is that I didn’t get to see him again.

[Tom, Adam, and Grace come on stage]

TOM: Hey Andrea. How are you, Nancy?

NANCY: Not so good. Andrea just told me her uncle passed away.

ADAM: I’m sorry, Andrea. How did it happen?

ANDREA: Cancer.

GRACE: I think I kind of know how you are feeling. My mom has breast cancer.

ADAM: How can you live with that every day? How can your mom live with it?

GRACE: It isn’t easy, especially for Dad. But you learn to do what you have to do.

NANCY: Which would be?

GRACE: Live each day as though it is the last.

ANDREA: What a terrible way to live! I could never do that. I would rather just drop dead — end the waiting.

GRACE: That may be so, may be no. But the real thing is — that’s not reality. Reality is that we don’t know what is coming. Cancer sometimes moves slowly, sometimes it goes into remission. Sometimes it . . . . .

TOM: Is your mom’s cancer in remission?

GRACE: No. Mom isn’t one of the lucky ones — not yet anyhow . . . .

NANCY: I don’t understand, Grace. You don’t seem angry?
