Gifts of the world are nothing compared to the gifts God gives. A group of athletes are offered various things such as cigarettes, alcohol and drugs but all are short benefit, and long term disaster, whereas the gift of God is forever. This mime skit shows how only God offers gifts that are reliable and satisfying.

Cast: 5+

Costumes: athletic wear, Satan wears black

Props: bag, small box to indicate cigarettes, bottle, etc., all with gift wrap or ribbons Either a sign “God is the reliable gift” or voice clip of this in local language

Sample of script:

(A group of athletes enter the stage, engaging in warm-up exercises as if preparing for a race.)

(Satan enters, carrying a small bag. He watches the athletes, sneers, then runs slowly but triumphantly in a circle, demonstrating his great athletic ability.)

(The athletes display varying levels of attention—some seem somewhat impressed.)

(Satan mimes lighting a cigarette, takes deep puffs, and then runs faster.)

(More athletes appear impressed.)

(Satan opens his bag and takes out a package of cigarettes, adorned with a ribbon to indicate a gift. He offers it to the athletes. They show interest but refuse to accept the gift.)

(Satan mimes lighting another cigarette and runs even faster.)

(Once again, Satan offers the cigarettes. Athlete #1 takes the gift, quickly opens the package, mimes lighting a cigarette, and begins running in a circle, miming strength and a macho image as they smoke.)

(After a short time, Athlete #1 begins to show signs of sickness—coughing, grabbing their throat, and ultimately collapsing to the ground, lying still.)

(Satan laughs as this happens. Another athlete approaches, lifts Athlete #1’s hand, and lets it fall to the ground to signify death.)

(Some athletes carry Athlete #1 off stage, while another athlete disdainfully kicks the cigarette package off stage.)

(The remaining athletes resume their warm-up exercises, completely ignoring Satan.)

(Satan observes them, then “gets an idea” and mimes taking a drink from a bottle.)

(Satan then runs in a circle, demonstrating his power and speed while drinking.)

(The athletes show some interest. Satan opens his bag again and pulls out a bottle, tied with a ribbon, offering it to the athletes.)

(Athlete #2 expresses interest, but other athletes attempt to prevent them from accepting the gift, miming that the cigarettes had already killed Athlete #1.)

(Satan intensifies his display of speed and dominance, miming taking another drink and running even faster.)

(Athlete #2 is now convinced and takes the bottle from Satan. They mime taking a drink and run quickly and confidently, even running backwards to show off.)

(Other athletes mime alarm, pointing at an imminent danger. Athlete #2 looks around, mimes seeing something approaching—but too late. They are “hit” by something, collapse to the ground, and lie motionless, signifying death.)
