🕊 A Story of Redemption, Courage, and Unshakable Faith

Step into the ancient city of Jericho and witness one of the Bible’s most unlikely heroes come to life. Rahab the Harlot, written by Sandy Gaetano, is a compelling two-person drama that blends storytelling with raw emotion, as Rahab—once bound by shame and circumstance—dares to believe in the God of Israel.

Told through the honest voice of Rahab and the guiding narration of a storyteller, this script highlights her transformation from a life of survival to a legacy of faith. With simple staging—Rahab doing household chores as her story unfolds—this moving piece invites audiences to reflect on redemption, identity, and the power of belief.

Perfect for churches, women’s events, or dramatic readings, Rahab the Harlot brings ancient truth to modern hearts.

Sample Script:

Narrator: Come, come and hear a story, an amazing story about a woman, a courageous woman, who had the strength, fortitude and wisdom to change her life through her faith. This woman was a harlot named Rahab…..

Rahab: (Rahab is sweeping….looking first at the narrator, then out to congregation.)

Narrator: A harlot, yes that is one way to say it. Another would be a prostitute or the worst, a whore, not that I had chosen this profession, mind you. I was given to the king by my father, not that he had a choice. If I did not go, my family would be killed and I still would be given to the king. Women have no say you know. We do as we are told like it or not. But I refused to just be used and abused. If I was to be with the King, I would use my power of persuasion over him. I eventually convinced him to let me have a house by the eastern wall of Jericho overlooking the front gates. I told him I could keep him informed of strangers who arrived. Men tend to spill secrets when in my arms.

Narrator: Rahab lived in relative luxury because she was paid twice for her service, once by her clients, once by the king for any information she had gleaned from her customers. Since she was in the service of the king she was treated with respect, although all knew she was a harlot. There were always the looks of disdain. No one knew how much she hated this life.

Rahab: Hated that Life? I despised that life! I was a prisoner, used and stripped of all humanity. But deep inside I knew there was a God out there, one God, my God. A God that could save those He chose. I had heard stories as a child and knew that he was the One true God. Don't ask me why I knew all the stories were true when others who heard them said they were myths. I just had faith and believed. One night an Egyptian woman had spent the entire night telling me her stories of the God of the Israelites. She told me how there was a leader of the Hebrews who would come to destroy Jericho. And I knew this was the truth. I believed in this God. I wanted to worship this God. I wanted their God to be my God.

Narrator: Rahab ran to the king to tell him to repent and surrender or he would be destroyed by the Hebrews. They would all die because this God would crush the Hebrew enemies. Of course the King felt the walls of this great city would hold back anyone. Her warning fell on deaf ears. He and his walls were invincible.

Rahab: Invincible! Ha! I Knew better, I did not want to suffer the fate that awaited this king and his people. I had to have a plan. I had heard about Hebrew spies that would come to the city and I would be on the lookout for them.
Sure enough one day I spotted them.
How did I know?
Moses had sent spies 40 years ago so I was sure this new leader would send spies. Sure enough I spotted two spies and ran down to meet them. I made such a scene on the street with them that they followed me up to my house just to take the eyes of the guards off them.

Narrator: Rahab had given them food and drink and had hid them from the king's guards. Rahab knew that God had promised this land to the Hebrews and their God would destroy all their enemies. She had to protect herself and her family. So before she had given Salmon and Eziera any information she had to make a deal.
