A Scrabble tournament makes for active competition, we can’t tell you who might end up with the highest score in the tournament, but we can tell you that we all will be winners through practicing Christian patience!

Tony: Alright! Is everyone ready for the Run for the Roses. Super Bowl 6000, the Stanley Cup, the . . .
Terry: Tony! May I remind you that it’s only a Scrabble game, not the Tournament of Champions!
Gene: Right on, Terry! Just a friendly game, that’s all. I don’t figure what you are getting’ all worked up about Tony! Now then, are we ready to play?
Tony, looks out into audience, assumes announcer’s voice: Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls! The day you have all been waiting for has finally arrived! I can just feel the tension building as these two Scrabble masters, champions in their own circles are here today to . . .
Terry: Tony! What colour is the sky in your world? And who are you talking to out there? It’s just Gene and me here to play a fun game of Scrabble and here you are making like it’s . . .
Tony, looks out into audience: Did you see that clever move from Terry, trying to throw his opponent off with a cavalier, carefree foray. But will Gene be taken in by this rouse, that, ladies and gentlemen, is the question of the moment!
Gene: . . . the question of the . . ?“ You know, Tony, I have seen you do some hair-brained things but this one tops them all. Now cool it! Come on, Terry, let’s get set up.
Tony: Now here as the competitors prepare for this, the crucial test to see who shall wear the crown, carry the banner, float the flag . . . .
Gene: Tony! What in the world are you talking a . . . .pause . . . . “float the flag?”
Tony: Had a ring to it, didn’t it? (clears throat) Now the, time for the pre-game injury report. In the last game Terry suffered a nasty sliver from one of the Scrabble tiles, but, (holds up Terry’s finger), a close examination has proven this outstanding player fit and ready to play!
Terry and Gene look atTony in total disbelief, shaking heads
Tony: Now then, to begin the game, the referee, that’s me, will set the first word and the players will then play off, beginning with Gene who drew the high tile in the preliminary. And the first word which I have selected is . . . PATIENCE. Now then, players, have a good, good game
!Terry: Too bad you had to go home, Tony, we will miss your joyous countenance here. Yeh, right!
Tony: Non-sense! I should not miss this match for all the . . . . well, I simply wouldn’t miss it, that’s all! Besides, rules demand that a competent referee be on hand at all times.
Gene: And one wasn’t available so you volunteered, right?
Tony: Droll! Droll! Now, let the games begin! Gene, your first word.
