Golf may be Sue’s new obsession… but June’s passion goes a little deeper.
In this light-hearted yet thought-provoking two-person skit, Sue is decked out in golf gear and totally immersed in mastering her swing—even if the ball says otherwise. June, in contrast, is laser-focused on a different kind of mission: helping kids encounter the love of Jesus through church ministry.
As these two friends cross paths, their conversation quickly turns from tee times to timeless truth. What does it really mean to have a passion? And how do we spend our most precious resource—our time?
"Passion For What?" is a humorous and heartfelt drama perfect for women’s events, small group gatherings, or Sunday services. It gently challenges audiences to consider what they’re pursuing with their whole heart... and whether that pursuit is leading them deeper into the love of Christ.
Run-time: 4-6 minutes
Cast: 2 women (any age)
Tone: Comedic with a meaningful twist
Themes: Priorities, passion, ministry, spiritual growth
Props: Optional golf gear for comedic effect
Sample Script:
Scene: A park or open space. Sue is center stage, practicing her golf swing. She’s clearly new to the sport. June enters, pauses, and watches.
Sue (speaking to herself, focused on her swing):
Okay, the pros always say keep your eye on the ball. Keep your eye on the ball.
(Takes a swing, but clearly misses the ball.)
Much better! I didn’t even hit my leg this time!
June (trying hard to hide her laughter):
Sue, what are you doing?
Sue:
What does it look like I’m doing?
June:
I really can’t say for sure!
Sue:
I’m golfing!! In order for me to improve my skills, I have to practice, practice, practice!
June:
Wow! You really are taking this seriously. Why this newfound passion for golf?
Sue:
Well, I just found golf to be more me. After all, I was getting tired of breaking my limbs with bungee jumping, and the doctor said no more skydiving, so I figured golf would be the perfect sport for me!
June:
Great! Everyone should have some form of a hobby. It’s a terrific way to pass the time!
Sue (looking at June in disgust):
What? Did you say ‘pass the time’? I have not thrown myself into this fine sport just to pass the time. I’ll have you know this takes years and years of day-in and day-out training and working to get your skill level up to where it should be. This is more than just a hobby – it’s a passion!!
June:
Well, I guess that’s still great. Good for you. Now, I really have to run along.
Sue:
Where are you going?
June:
Oh, I have to meet with the church committee to discuss the new programs for the children.
