Oh, hello.  I am glad you finally decided to show up today.  (Looks at watch)  I had understood you were coming at 4:12 and it is now 4:35  I assumed you had changed your mind.

(Holds hand up, interrupting)  Don’t bother with the excuses.  The important thing is that you are here now.  You must understand that this type of work involves complete dedication.  I agreed to have you observe my work in the hopes that you too may catch this . . . this . . . passion I have for being a research scientist.

It is not easy. It involves many, many long hard hours of intense work. If anyone at the career counseling center told you this was going to be one of those cake-walk kind of jobs, they were mistaken. If you want to carry the name of research scientist, then you must totally become a research scientist.

What do I mean totally become a research scientist? Well, you have to dedicate the time necessary to your work.
