Rightness of knowing Jesus is mimed. So don't clown around when it comes to leading sinners to Christ, just show them Jesus. Because Jesus is Y2K. OK!

This is all mime using signs for audience understanding, but it will need a narrator to explain when finished.

Characters: You may adjust the number of people used for the skit to more or less depending on what you have available. Clown, Sinner, Old time Saints Paul, Elijah, David, Moses, Jesus.

Props: chair, name signs, boxes or bags with large labels, items for pocket: crumbled hanky, ball, and money.

Sample of script

Clown and Sinner Skit

(Clown enters whistling or singing. Sees Sinner lying on the floor in agony, reaching out for help.)

Clown
(Stops, looks at the audience, and searches pockets for something to help.)

  • Pulls out a used hanky—shakes head, no.
  • Pulls out a bouncy ball—bounces it a few times—shakes head, no.
  • Pulls out money—shrugs like maybe, places it in Sinner’s hand, but they can’t hold it. Money falls to the floor.
  • Clown picks up money, puts it back in pocket—shakes head, no.

(Clown walks away, scratching head, thinking. Shrugs as if there’s nothing Clown can do and sits in a chair opposite the Sinner.)

Sinner
(Begins to moan and reach out for help.)

Clown
(Gets up and flexes muscles—Clown will try to save Sinner personally.)

  • Pulls on Sinner’s hand—feet slide along the floor, leaving Clown sitting on the floor, still holding Sinner’s hand.
  • (If available, use a never-ending glove or scarf, pulling until only holding the end, looking sad at the audience.)
  • Clown puts Sinner’s hand over back and pulls, sliding again—Clown ends up lying face down.
  • Clown puts foot against Sinner and pulls from a sitting position, but loses grip, flipping backward.
(If a girl Clown, show pantaloons; if unable to do a backward roll, roll sideways for the same effect.)

(Clown must now get up. If a drummer is available, use them for comedic timing.)

  • Rolls right, falls back (padump).
  • Rolls left, falls back (padump).
  • Rolls back and forth (padump - padump).
  • Grabs feet, attempts to pull up, rolls back instead with feet over head (padump).
  • Continues rolling back and forth a couple of times (padump - padump).
  • Finally, rolls onto stomach, gets on hands and walks hands backward until standing.
  • (Makes a big production of triumphantly standing for the audience.)

(Sinner moans again. Clown looks at Sinner, then at the audience—sad.)

  • Clown flexes muscles but then shakes head sadly—it didn’t work.
  • Clown goes to sit down.

Enter Biblical Figures with Gifts

(Enter Paul, wearing a large sign that says Apostle Paul.)

  • Paul holds up a bag or box labeled WISDOM and gives it to Clown.
  • Clown receives joyfully. Paul exits.

(Enter Moses, wearing a large sign that says Prophet Moses.)

  • Moses hands Clown a bag labeled COMMANDMENTS.
  • Clown receives joyfully. Moses exits.

(Enter Elijah, wearing a large sign that says Prophet Elijah.)

  • Elijah hands Clown a bag labeled AUTHORITY.
  • Clown receives joyfully. Elijah exits.

(Enter David, wearing a large sign that says King David.)

  • David hands Clown a bag labeled PRAISE.
  • Clown receives joyfully. David exits.

Clown’s Attempt with the Gifts

(Clown holds each bag up to the audience one at a time, proudly pointing to self, as if saying I have this now!)

  • Clown struts confidently toward Sinner to help.
  • Clown pulls Sinner halfway up, but Sinner falls back down. Clown almost falls.
  • Clown gets behind Sinner and tries to push them up with big feet but rolls backward instead.
  • Clown scratches head, shrugs shoulders—defeated.
  • Clown goes back to the chair, puts head in hands, and sobs in failure.
