Completing the task, running the course
This drama uses 3 male and 3 female adults. They are wearing business suits, suitable for an executive office position.
Cast, except for Kim, are seated around a rectangular table, (at least 6 feet long), to resemble a board room meeting. Kim will be seated on a chair on her own, taking notes by hand of the entire meeting. Kim is verv quiet while the others are discussing things, continues to write her notes even though she shows obvious frustration with the antics that are going on.
Some of the actors will have paper and a pen, making sure that these minor props do not become major distractions
Scene opens with Bob, Mary, Diane, George and Pete seated at the table, in that order. Actors must sit in a way that they are never masked to any part of the audience. They are all having conversations with each other, quite loud, and are obviously not discussing anything work related.
Pete, speaks to George: What are you talking about?! Of course they’re gonna take the title this year! There's no way they could loose!
George, laughing With Thompson as their top guard. Man, if he's their top guy, the only place that team is going quick is to the golf course, 'cause they are his-tor-y!!
Mary, shows disgust with their conversation: Are you guys seriously talking Now? We are in a business meeting! With the board of directors! Can we please address more important issues?
Pete and George look at each other and roll their eyes mockingly
Pete Fine, Mary? What is it that you would like to discuss?
Mary Well, I would like to finish my discussion with Diane, thank you very much! (Turning to Diane.) Are you sure this lipstick looks good on me'? I usually don't go this dark. I think my skin tone calls for a more rosy hue, don't you'?
Diane No, no, no! That's the trap far too many women fall into! Just because you have rose coloring, doesn't mean you can ignore those auburn eyes!
Mary Of course! You're right! My auburn eyes! Now, nail polish is a whole other story! You see I ...
Both women get excited with the conversation then suddenly, stop in mid-sentence as they turn and realize all the men are staring at them.
Mary and Diane, in unison: What?
Bob, annoyed Ladies, I thought we were going to address more important issues today.
Pauses as entire room becomes silent. awaiting their boss' wrath. Bob gets up and begins walking around the room in obvious frustration
Bob: For once, people, for once, I would just like to be on top of things. I will not tolerate anymore backsliding or last minute cramming for decisions. I want clear, concise information given early enough so that we can act on it! Do you understand? (very seriously) My point is this - (puts his hands on the edge of the table and leans in closely) - where are we are we ordering our lunch from today'.?
