Saul is looking offstage, shouting at unseen persons, while Roman guard stands nearby. Just visible at far side of stage are P1 (Person 1) and P2 (Person 2), watching intently all
that happens
Saul: Make no mistake! I will not rest until every follower of the Way is put to death. Never forget that it was I, Saul of Tarsus, who silenced the blasphemy of the fool Stephen, he who spoke against the law of Moses and the temple!
Oh yes, it was I who was proud to be a persecutor of Stephen, and proudly did I participate in the stoning
(holds up a piece of paper)
And now, with the high priest’s letter in hand, I am off to Damascus where, with good fortune I will find more of the followers of the dead Jesus, and I will bring them to justice.
(to guard)
Come, there is no time to waste!
Saul and guard go off stage
P1: How could he be so nasty and mean?
P2: Saul thought he was doing the right thing.
