Psalm 122 speaks of a pilgrim who, upon leaving Jerusalem, thinks of how blessed he is.
Having had the opportunity and the joy and the privilege to be in the city of Jerusalem, he thinks of what Jerusalem means to him, and he urges everyone to be in prayer for Jerusalem and for the unity of the people.

This drama centers on four key themes: blessing, joy, privilege, and church unity.

Drama uses King David, a man, a child, and also a leader who each read from a different version of the Bible. While memorizing the lines is best, could be prerecorded and actors mime the emotions.

Sample Script:

King David (enters sanctuary, stops in extreme downstage right, facing upstage center, speaks KJV):
I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord. Our feet shall stand within Thy gates, O Jerusalem. Jerusalem is builded as a city that is compact together: Whither Thy tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord, unto the testimony of Israel, to give thanks unto the name of the Lord. For there are set thrones of judgment, the thrones of the house of David.

Man (enters sanctuary, stops in extreme downstage left, facing upstage center, speaks Living Bible):
I was glad for the suggestion of going to Jerusalem, to the Temple of the Lord. Now we are standing here inside the crowded city. All Israel, Jehovah’s people have come to worship, as the law requires, to thank and praise the Lord. Look! There are the judges holding court beside the city gates, deciding all the people’s arguments.

Girl (enters sanctuary, stops center stage, facing congregation, speaks Contemporary translation):
I was really glad when Dad said, “let’s go to church.” My Grampa calls it the house of the Lord. And when we got here, I realized something. All the people who are really important to me, my family and friends, are all here. Grampa told me that it is the duty of God's people to be in church. I'm sure he’s right 'cause my Grampa is about the smartest man I know. It just feels right to come to church to praise God. Some kids say the reason for coming to church is to ask God for stuff.

Leader (joins girl on stage, speaks NIV translation, leads audience in praise):
Let all God’s people rise and join in praise to God: I rejoiced with those who said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.” Our feet are standing in your gates, O Jerusalem. Jerusalem is built like a city that is closely compacted together. That is where the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord, to praise the name of the Lord, according to the statute given to Israel. There the thrones for judgment stand, the thrones of the house of David.
